Busy Day On The Homestead Gardening And Making Raised Herb Beds
There was a platform for a tent out behind the house which makes the perfect raised herb bed. It was a busy day on the homestead today with me working out in the yard most of the time.
I am sharing all of our daily videos since the time we moved to our new homestead to give you the background story. Then I will continue to share our daily videos and articles each day as we make them. So please follow and enjoy the series.
Behind the house the previous owners had a raised deck where they would put a screen tent. We found this to be an odd place for a screen tent so we finally decided to remove the boards and use the framing underneath for a raised herb garden.
I had to haul out many wheel barrow loads of sand though which was used as fill for under the deck. This took me quite a while due to heat and humidity.
Finally I got the sand out and hauled a load of compost in to use as planting medium. I figured one truck load would fill the frame in fully but I was wrong. It was not enough.
Melanie has a bunch of herbs that she is waiting to plant in the new herb garden.
I put the chickens out in the yard in a protected area to eat fresh greens and bugs for the day while I cleaned out the chicken coop.
The chickens are great multi purpose birds. They eat bugs, provide meat and eggs and also provide fertilizer for the garden.
I put the pine shavings and chicken manure on the compost bin to age for use next year on the garden.
Later I got gas for the push mower and cut the nearly one acre lawn. It takes quite a long time to cut the grass here.

That "platform for a tent" Reid points to and shows in this video is covering the septic tank.
Now Reid built an illegal greenhouse structure over it and placed lots of potted plants on top.
As of his November 01, 2017 video, he has yet to cover it with a tarp.
His next drama video will show all the worthless plants are frozen, and he will blame someone or something other than take responsibility.
Well now I am sure that your group of "good people" as you call them have already harassed town hall about my greenhouse.

Sure it's legal to build on top of your septic tank. The problem will happen if you have septic tank issues and they need to dig into the tank area. Maybe you are taking peoples comments the wrong way? I see the comments as trying to help you in the future. By building something in a potentially expensive future fix they are telling you it's not advisable. Did you talk to your septic pumping company about this first?
Oh no. If you took the time to read their comments, they are intended to harass me and destroy my family.
I dont mind helpful comments and advice.
But the one who commented above is with a group who are out to destroy my family in the real world.
Just look at how he worded this comment. Not nice at all. Go head and see some of his other comments to me. Most are pure hatred and attacks.

I did get all my proper permits :)
Septic pumping companies DO NOT issue building permits.
I asked if you consulted your SEPTIC pumping company if they thought building on top of the tanks was a good idea.

Me & my mom have our own gardens we eat from and we have a septic tank. I want to find a way to divert sewer into creating manure, soil, for gardens. I want to recycle more. I love the do it yourself off the grid things. I'm Oatmeal. Thanks for sharing.
