WHY WE HOMESTEAD - Part 9 - HEALTH
This is Part 9 of a new series.
On earth, we get one body. If we destroy it, it’ll be gone, so health is important. Interestingly enough, it seems that being healthy and homesteading can work really well together. Enjoy the video!
PART 9 - HEALTH
For us, homesteading seems like a great way to be sure to keep our bodies healthy. In Part 10, I will share about how homesteading fits with the experience that we desire to have in this life. Stay tuned!
It's fantastic when you can do what you love and stay fit at the same time. Sure beats working a 9-5 office job and having to slog it out at the gym afterward to get some exercise!
Absolutely, paying for gym membership is obviously out of the question! Thanks Matt!
what do you think about Integrated Farm? in our lives.
Another good one Bro ! I think this is probably one of the most important aspects of what people are calling "Homesteading" these days, I call it "natural Living" as man was intended. Personal health is so important, especially as you mentioned, getting older.
Of all the things you have talked about in this series, this video pretty much sums it up. Most of the videos speak of creating a lifestyle to increase your "mental" health. Call it freedom, happiness or self sufficiency, self reliance or whatever, It all boils down to one thing. DECREASING STRESS !
All the healthy foods, meds and workouts at a gym does nothing to improve the destruction to your body that stress inflicts. I am so happy for you and your family to see that you are to the point where the "major" stress of moving and setting up a homestead is lessening to the point where you are starting to feel healthier, more so day by day I would imagine.
The things you mention in this video about health are what we all should be trying to do to improve our own personal health. Just being in nature, breathing non polluted air is unbelievable asset to a more healthy life. Even the "work" that you are doing, in a non contaminated environment benefits your personal heath. The things you mention all add up to a great "formula" for creating and living a healthier life.
The constant contact with healthy microbes, the lack of poisons in the water, the air are great, but as you mentioned, growing your own food without all the poisons that corporate farming or "store-bought" food include is paramount. Not to mention the quality and amount of vitamins in your food compared to "store-bought".
Another great video, thanks for sharing !
Wishing you and yours a healthier life !
Hugs all around !
Your friend JT Streetman
Very well said. Good point on vitamins. If the food isn't grown in soil that has vitamins and minerals in it, the food is deficient.
Indeed ! Thanks for responding, Much respect bro !
Very good point about health. I filter my city water so I can drink it. It still doesn't campare to a drink of well water out of a garden hose. And I and my son who is also 37 both walk to and from our jobs everyday. I noticed I have more energy than some of the 20 year olds at work.
I did receive the seeds you sent me in the mail. I am going to have a section on my patio of a @papa-pepper garden.
I used to love my half hour walk to work in New Orleans.
Glad that they made it safe!
I walk for a half hour to work. My son walks for 45 mnutes to his job. and we both are on our feet all day.
Love the videos papa...i noticed that im in horrible shape at my current job in front of a computer.it may sound crazy but i miss my hard labor jobs (sometimes:) because i was leaner, stronger and healthier...the city jobs are killing many...all the best brother
Being able to have better control over what you put into your body is so important.
So many doctors prescribe medications, which only mask symptoms, bandage the problem.
People pay higher insurance premiums because of high blood pressure, weight, smoking, etc
SO healthier living is better.
Nice to enjoy nature too. So happy you, and many others, are able to work your own land and actually enjoy life.
Well water? OMGoodness... I love well water. When I drink 'city water' I think 'ewww' tastes like chemicals and goodness knows what else
No kidding who knows what else!
Great Post, loving this series. City dweller, so its a bit of a tough pill to swallow. Love how you teach without the preach.
Thanks for that. I was a city dweller too, but I tried to live cautiously. Stay safe and be careful!
another great video, my friend. I generally stick to a special diet which is perhaps unusual, but to me at least makes sense. i try to only eat things that are alive. Meaning . . . if I can replant the vegetable, like an onion or potato, and it keeps growing, it has a life force in it. It is the life force i concentrate on.
Oyster, cavair, eggs, etc still have that life force. I also add to it what keeps these life forces alive, like milk, honey, fruit juices, etc. By absorbing life you stay live, but eating that which is dead you invite destruction. I hope you do not consider me to weird for sharing, my friend. Looking at nature, a deer in the forest never eats what is on the ground, but only what it picks. Top predators, like big cats, or even small foxes never eat cold dead meat. I hope this makes sense, my friend.
Very interesting look at things. I get where you're coming from.
I thought you might. Keep up with the videos my friend
As usual, great post!
A wonderful advocacy for healthy food and outdoor living!
Thanks man!
Health Is Wealth
Yes, you nailed it. Homesteading provides the optimum environment for the health of mind, body and spirit.
I can attest to this. Since moving to the country and working on the homestead, I'm healthier now than I was 10 years ago. That's really saying something because I'm 64.
Wow! Great move.
