Day On The Homestead

We decided this year to go ahead and upgrade our cooler. For the last year we have been using a solar powered freezer to freeze blocks of ice in plastic totes. We then transfer those blocks to our cooler where they have to be switched out every day. (Chore for the kids)

They don't completely thaw every day but if you place them back in the freezer before they are completely thawed, it takes less energy to freeze again.

We have been using a large Coleman cooler for the last 5 years or so and we have noticed those expensive but highly reviewed Yeti's that are available. But for the size we want, the price was over $500. That's a tough bite. But over the last year, there have been a number of other companies that have put out some products very similar to the Yeti coolers at much lower prices. And the reviews are great! So at this point, owning a brand named Yeti is just wasting money.

Our new cooler arrived and Jaimie is itching to get food into it. So hurry up and do a video already!

In other events, the guineas are not roaming around the homestead like they should. They are mostly simply hanging out at the chicken coop and they need to be out exploring and eating ticks. So Tim decided to round them up and bring them to the back side of the mountain.

Oh and the kids trap a turtle. Every day on the homestead is an adventure. I hope that you are enjoying your adventure!

Hope those guineas eat lots and lots of ticks and maybe make for a nice meal for a hawk or something. @ironshield

Something will eat them for sure.

Not the sharpest tools in the box, those guineas. Some are smarter than others though. We have had decent luck with ours. Nice turtle! How long before he escapes? Every day on the homestead is an adventure. We like it that way...

I made the kids release him after the 3rd time he took a nose dive off the deck.

Poor thing! Can turtles have broken noses?

Hopefully the guineas will eat lots of ticks for you and hopefully will not get eaten right away!

How is Tim doing? We have not seen him on Steemit for a while now? Hope all is well with Him and Joann. Tell him I'm interested in see how the multi purpose building is coming along! I suppose you could answer that as well!

I will try and get some video of that soon. He is working on landscaping today.

I'm sure we all will be interested in seeing that....but...how about Tim, how is he and Joann doing?

Keep me updated on the cooler!

Looks like a beautiful piece of land. I would love to find a place like that out in Montana someday. Although I'm aiming to get a ranch, hopefully, one I can stick a small airstrip on among other things. Definitely not a homestead like yours, but it's always fascinating watching what people do. One of my favorite videos is a guy who used a tiny little creek on his property and with a 200ft drop from the reservoir to the hydro turbine he can power his whole site.

Found you guys again! I have followed you from the homestead channel (ruku), to youtube, to FB, to patreon, and you got me going on Steemit too! You are hard to catch, LOL! :D

It was best to let the turtle go, who wants a Kamikaze turtle anyway?
:)

One video and I've learned something :) I'm going to have to pay attention to your posts.
