Applejuice .... Apfelsaft
All over the place, all around us there are apples in the trees and on the ground at this time of the year ... unnoticed to most of the inhabitants of our region - most regular people go into the store buying apples from far far away....
The mobile presses do charge for their service - and right they are! I know how much of my personal physical energy it costs to wash, chop, press, heat and fill up... this year, no way!
Every single apple made into juice went through my hands - I picked it from the tree, I picked it from the ground - I went into some sort of relation and connection with it - we talked... without words... which is very often - if not always - much more intensive.... The juice the whole family will be drinking for the upcoming months has something to do with us... and we are thankfully paying for the juicing service this year :-)
Having about 100 litres in store now and next Sunday hoping for another 100 - winter can come!

Du hast sowas von Recht. Ich find's total plemplem Äpfel aus Neuseeland zu kaufen, wo die doch hier vor der Tür wachsen. Wir haben hier "das alte Land", wo jetzt auch gerade Erntezeit ist. Ich bin früher mit meinem Sohn einige Male zum Pflücken hingefahren. War immer schön dort und man konnte natürlich noch allerlei andere Dinge dort kaufen, im Hofladen.
Wir waren letztes Jahr zu einem Apfel-Seminar und die Hofbesitzerin hat uns erstmal einen erzählt, was für "Bio" alles so vorausgesetzt ist und dass "Bio" manchmal so absurd in der Herstellung ist (extrem hoher Wasserverbrauch), dass sie sich dagegen entschieden hat. Ich hab davon keine Ahnung, aber was sie sagte, klang plausibel. Die Frau war echt taff und verstand ihr Geschäft.
Ausgerechnet meine Lieblingssorte "Elstar" sind die Diven unter den Äpfeln:-) - hab gerade heute wieder welche gekauft.
Ich muss unbedingt einen Buch-Titel für dich raussuchen, ein Roman, da ging es um eine Apfelplantagen-Besitzerin, das ist so gut geschrieben, ich hoffe, ich finde es. Was du über mit den Äpfeln sprechen sagst, ist natürlich vollkommen richtig! ;-) ich rede manchmal auch mit meinem Fikus draußen auf dem Balkon. Der hat schon wer weiß was überlebt.

ha, da hast du deinem Fikus genau die Nahrung gegeben, die er brauchte :-) Über den Sinn und Unsinn der Vorschriften und Verordnungen das BIO-Siegel betreffend, könnte man etliche Schriften verfassen - alleine, es interessiert im Grunde genommen kaum jemanden... Dir einen guten Abend nach HH!
Apples are in abundance here right now too. We grab what we can but I'm particularly interested in the rotten ones. We use them to bring in the deer for hunting season. They love them!

and it is just so delicious :-) We usually delute the juice with water - in German this is called an Apfelschorle - so hopefully the amount will last for some months...

This apple juice is truly delicious and tastes quite different from the one we used to buy at the supermarket: the home-made one is far more tasty and offers far more flavour and sweetness. Even better: we collected each and every single apple, more so: from our near neighbourhood, had them in our hands, stored them - had fund collecting them and bringing them to the cider press. There is almost no commerce in the process, no fiction. It is all real and without any chemical treatment. Rain, sunshine and all the noises from the surrounding woods contributed to the growing of the apples. Try it, it's delicious and enriching.

I've never heard of this before! What a great concept! Just picked a bunch of apples myself and will be making applesauce.
It is such a great way to get your own juice - I'll be making some applesauce next week :-) Do you add any spices to your applesauce?
