Homesteaders - Living Naturally, Newsletter. 26th June 2019
I'm later in the day than usual to finish putting this newsletter together. What can I say, I was distracted by a bit of weeding...
The more we think about where our food comes from, the more we feel a need to look at other sources. I also made a trip to the farmers' market this morning and it does take time out of your day, but It's currently the only place where I'm confident I can get bread without all the preservatives. What steps do you take for healthy and sustainable living?
@jonyoudyer on @canna-curate
The community of Canna-Curate main goal, is to support the cannabis tag on Steem. We do this with delegation from the Steem community. We recognize that many people on Steem consume cannabis, or just support it, even if they do not partake. So with a delegation, we will sign up the delegator who even does not post cannabis content to receive an upvote. The VP%, and frequency is all dependent on delegation size. With these guidelines, we have managed to accumulate 13,000 SP. We use this SP to up vote cannabis content manually. If a post is a great one, we will resteem it, 2 per day. It brings us much joy to elevate the cannabis tag. Before Canna-Curate, the cannabis tag was undervalued. Even so today, but with Weedcash, the cannabis community is finally getting what it deserves. We will continue to support the cannabis tag, while representing ourselves as respectable people, in hopes of killing the stereotype of “The Lazy Pothead”. You can find us on our Discord

The latest @ecotrain Question of the Week asks about the unconscious mind. There are still a couple more days to get your thoughts in on this.

Welcoming Newcomers
This week I was happy to meet the lovely @growingupvillage, who has a homestead in Alaska. She and her family are about homesteading and sustainability, making use of what nature provides to produce food in the 4 months of sunshine that they get. It's such a different environment to what I know that I'm fascinated to learn more about how they do things there.
While putting together this week's newsletter, I came across another newcomer, @smallblockfuelie, who is building a geothermal heat sink greenhouse.
I feel like I'm hitting the jackpot today, with yet another newcomer, @yardandgarage!
Some highlights of the week
@sustainablyyours has some rocky ground which he wants to get planted up, which certainly isn't going to be the easiest area to work. Raised garden beds could mean trucking in lots of soil and compost, so how about that permaculture method of hugelkultur beds? This could be a win, win, so join @sustainablyyours as he makes his first hugel mounds as a practice run for thing real thing.
When sustainable gardening is done on a small scale, it will likely affect how you decide to prune. It's winter for @ligayagardener and he has been pruning his miniature food forest.
I'll finish off with this delicious looking chocolate chip muffin recipe from the @homesteadhippy.

Oh what a wonderful selection of articles we have this week and it's wonderful to meet all these newcomers!
Great job on pulling this all together - thanks @minismallholding!
Yes, so many newcomers!
Thank you. I struggled a bit this time, had a headache that day, so glad to hear it came together okay.
