During the year ladybugs are beneficial in the garden, but in the fall they become pests as they swarm by the millions looking for a place to stay warm and dry for winter.

All winter long, if you turn over a piece of lumber or move an object, you will find a cluster of ladybugs.

Have a great day and thanks for your up-vote, Tim and Joann

There is never just a few either.

I think the orange ones are asian beetles

Am told that the american ladybugs and the Asian beetles have cross bred.

Oh! I just asked you a similar question! I do don’t know they cross bred!!!

Those things are so disgusting. They are everywhere in the house and they stink bad. We sucked up hundreds with the vacuum a couple of months ago and we are still sucking them up months later.

They come by the millions it seems.

Awesome find! Some of the best garden companions around.

Hard press to find a true lady bug anymore because of the Asian beetles!

Ugh! We do not have that problem down here in GA, but in Ohio, these things would move into our house every fall! We would shop vac them up and throw them outside, but they would always come back. It is crazy!

I know what you mean. They get every where.

Ach, the darn things are still in our house despite having a very cold winter, and heating with wood... I find them in my dishes! And yesterday two of them were in my honey jar! Last week I baked oatmeal cookies and found one baked in a cookie I was about to eat!! They stink and they ruin the flavor of food and drinks sometimes!

How do you tell a ladybug from the Japanese beetle? The pics online make it seem that ladybugs have only a couple of spots and the Jap beetle have a lot of spots.

The ladybugs are red. The jap beetles are orange.

Do you have stink bugs in your area. The invasion you are describing sounds like what we go through with the stink bugs.

Yes, but they are not as bad as the ladybugs or jap bettles.
