1 Gallon- Alaska SALMONBERRIES
"Salmonberries" we call them here in Unalakleet, Alaska... but, to be factual, these are "cloudberries". Whatever the name, they are my favorite food in the entire world. My husband and daughter are much better berry pickers than I am, all of these are what they gathered. 💖 Even Kavik the Siberian husky needed to smell their perfection! Tart, sour, sweet, orange-raspberry type of taste and it is a piece of heaven on earth for the tongue, plus full of vitamin C!
These look sweet @growingupvillage. Beautiful green pictures!

I have never heard of or seen that type of berry before. They are really cool looking! I love how they pop up like flower blooms. Do they grow wild in abundance like that all summer?
I hoped I was showing something kind of rare! They are stunning, and only available about 15 to 20 days before they get overripe. If only they were available all summer. This year, there seem to be hundreds of thousands of them!

Interesting - so these are lowbush salmonberries I guess after googling. We had "true" salmonberries in southeast AK were I grew up, and they got huge. My favs. Do these taste like the other variety?
"true" Salmonberries in Haines, AK
:) Hi! I have not yet tasted actual salmonberries, but I really want to someday. I wish I could answer you on that!
