Developing Raw Land to a Homestead

Can you really develop raw land into a homestead with little to no budget? How can you buy cheap land? And once you get that cheap land you can't leave in it...its too CHEAP!! So how do you clear land with no budget? Or how do you build that off grid bug out location on a budget?

FRIENDS! aka Social Capital

We are blessed with some amazing friends that wanted to come and help us develop our homestead in exchange for some fun camping!! We traded labor for hot dogs and smores! Yay baby, smores!!!!

Also during this time we had a chance to try out the new Ego 56v Power+ 15" String Trimmer. Yep!! We used a brushless cordless string trimmer weed eater to cut down our crazy weeds here at the future Texas homestead build. This thing is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

What A Blessing

When you have friends and family that are willing to help support your crazy dream of living the suburbs to live on raw land where there is nothing...just because they love and care about you. It is a great feeling.

How did you build your homestead? If you haven't yet, do you have friends or family or contacts that are willing to come and help you make your dream a reality?

Looks like you've got a heck of a project going there!

Keep it up and keep posting to steemit!

Cant wait to see more!

Well...I do not want to be deceiving....these are videos from a year ago. The next few videos that I post it'll really slow down and not much has happened on our property since.

So this was in November of 2016. Then we had baby #4 in May of 2017 and have been trying to sell our suburban home.

We plan on getting back to the property this spring to crank it up again and hopefully we will have our house sold by April of 2018!!!!! That's the plan at least. haha.

One step at a time!

Happy Sunday! The newest Weekly Homesteading Newsletter has just been published and your article has been featured in the issue! Thank you and have a great day!

This is awesome! May I link this article and feature your username in this Sunday's issue of the Weekly Homesteading Newsletter? Let me know as soon as you can :) Thanks!

You betcha!! Thanks a bunch. :)

Cool! I'll send you a link so you can check it out when it's published! Thank you!

Nice video, @bettertogether very inspiring. I know exactly what it's' like to see a property all nicely mowed and manicured till you buy it!! We are going through the same thing...well almost.

We closed at the end of april 2017 on 20 acres and left the country for two months (was a long awaited trip to Europe that we had planned before buying raw land). When we cam back, oh boy it was overgrown.

Funny enough all we had for a while was a couple machetes and eventually got the weed whacker....holy help that was!

I'm excited to follow your journey building your homestead, as we will be in the same boat spring 2018. Right now we're back in the big city working our asses off till it's warmer to build a a workspace for a metal and wood shop, a house to keep warm next winter and grow some food...

By the way I clicked on your click-bait at Jack Spirko's place! I'm a fan of the survival podcast too.

Ok good luck, see you on the tube...and Steem On!

Haha!!! Well yes, that was the only title that I could think of. It was interesting but certainly NOT angry and "The Jack Spirko". That man is exactly who he is on his podcast. Tough, direct, gives you his 100% to teach you what he knows...and will feed you until you BURST!!"

You are so correct about it being over grown. I am experiencing that now. It's hard to make progress from 2hrs away when every time you go up there you have to mow down the same thing each time.

Hay is why we plan on getting animals to do the mowing for us. Turning the sun's energy into green grass, that turn into protein meat for our bellies. 🍖

Happy to hear Jack is exactly as he is on the pod cast, I figured so but it's nice e to have a confirmation.

We too are 2 hours away from the land, and also planning on goat or sheep, chickens and so on for ground clearing and our bellies! I processed a chicken for the first time a couple months ago... It's baby step but a step forward!

Not on land...yet! But I do know that there are a few people that would help me clear land and such! Looking forward to the next installment!

We haven’t started yet, but we do have an amazing, small but ah-may-zing, group of friends and family that we refer to as our tribe, who would never let us undergo such a huge project alone. The only thing they ever ask in return is that we feed them!

it is always good when you post recent videos. yhu never know who is coming around. yhur video is old. not that it matters though

thanks for sharing

Yea just trying to catch everything up. That way I can post here more often.
