RE: Developing Raw Land to a Homestead - Part 1

in #homesteading7 years ago

Nice video, @bettertogether very inspiring. I know exactly what it's' like to see a property all nicely mowed and manicured till you buy it!! We are going through the same thing...well almost.

We closed at the end of april 2017 on 20 acres and left the country for two months (was a long awaited trip to Europe that we had planned before buying raw land). When we cam back, oh boy it was overgrown.

Funny enough all we had for a while was a couple machetes and eventually got the weed whacker....holy help that was!

I'm excited to follow your journey building your homestead, as we will be in the same boat spring 2018. Right now we're back in the big city working our asses off till it's warmer to build a a workspace for a metal and wood shop, a house to keep warm next winter and grow some food...

By the way I clicked on your click-bait at Jack Spirko's place! I'm a fan of the survival podcast too.

Ok good luck, see you on the tube...and Steem On!

Haha!!! Well yes, that was the only title that I could think of. It was interesting but certainly NOT angry and "The Jack Spirko". That man is exactly who he is on his podcast. Tough, direct, gives you his 100% to teach you what he knows...and will feed you until you BURST!!"

You are so correct about it being over grown. I am experiencing that now. It's hard to make progress from 2hrs away when every time you go up there you have to mow down the same thing each time.

Hay is why we plan on getting animals to do the mowing for us. Turning the sun's energy into green grass, that turn into protein meat for our bellies. 🍖

Happy to hear Jack is exactly as he is on the pod cast, I figured so but it's nice e to have a confirmation.

We too are 2 hours away from the land, and also planning on goat or sheep, chickens and so on for ground clearing and our bellies! I processed a chicken for the first time a couple months ago... It's baby step but a step forward!
