Finally Getting Started Back On The Small House Build. Here Is Where We Are On It.
As you know I had knee surgery on the 4th of October and was down for a couple of weeks and the kids stepped up and got the porch almost done. The ramp works great and we will get the porch finished soon. I got the staples out on the 18th of October and I talked to the doctor and the physical therapist and asked what I could do. They both told me just about anything I needed to do, just do not push the knee too hard. So, we started on the inside of the small house again.
It was our storage trailer when we first moved here and bought the property, We got it for a good deal because the wiring was ripped out of it by someone on the lot before it was sold, So we had to get as much out of there as we could. We had to 40 ft containers brought in and moved stuff to them as we cleaned out and made some donations to some thrift stores the stuff that we did not need but useful and someone could use it. Some of the stuff in it will stay because it will be used in the small house when finished. We will just have to move things around to work on it, which is just fine. Some more of this stuff was moved after these pictures where taken, It is coming together.
I finally got all the 110-volt wiring done in the house. Tried to make the box as neat as possible. Still, have the 220-volt wiring to hookup but waiting on the dividing wall of the bedroom and bathroom to go in so we can get a good placement on where the dryer, hot water heater, the stove will go, Do not want to have to redo anything. I still have to put up the ceiling fan in the living room and the back and front porch light, it is just the finishing touches that are left.
This is one side of the bedroom with the placement of the power boxes. The other side is identical to this side, It will be bunk beds with a plug at each foot and each head of the beds, four beds total, They will be what we will call pods. They will be closed in and will have power for led lights and chargers in them. It is something we thought of and we are going to try it. We like to think outside the box.
We have six home runs in the kitchen on the plugs and a home run for the washer, refrigerator and the freezer (A home run is only one plug on that circuit.) because we have a big family to cook for we wanted to be able to use more than one thing at a time and with chained together plugs you deal with tripping the breaker all the time.
We still have the plumbing to do and some insulation replacement to do, the drywall and fix parts of the ceiling where they ripped the wires out and messed it up.
We decided to do this because it will make living on the property a little easier and when we build the AirCrete houses it is out of the way and can stay as a guest house or as a place to can and such. We are trying to get this done before Thanksgiving so we can have a place we can all eat and cook together instead of spread out on the property.
We are doing this debt-free so as long as we can purchase building material we will be working on it. It might be slow but it will get done.

Congrats on the increased mobility! So glad you're healing well and can get on with all your projects. That's got to be a relief after having to limit yourself.
I hate when I know I need to get something done and cannot do it. Now the limits have lightened alot so I am able to move forward. Thanks!
Probably one of the most frustrating situations to tolerate. Enjoy your newly acquired freedom!
Ditto what the pros said, tho - Don't Overdo! ;~D
Wow! You've had some good progress!
Electrical and plumbing seem to take the longest.

Yes it does and It is the first things to get done. There is always a few little things that get missed. lol
I like how you think about re-purposing the small house once other structures are built. We plan to use the tiny house as a guest house also. Or possibly as a lake cabin once we upgrade to something bigger.
I try to think before I build something or do something, what can it be or what purpose it will have when I am through with it for the orignal purpose.
Really enjoyed your post and the pictures. Please keep posting so we can follow the progress.
Thanks! I will keep the posts coming, so you all will see the progress as we go.
