Raccoon Trapping Not Going Well
When Addie left to come pick me up in Indianapolis Indiana from my bike trip some raccoons discovered we were gone. They attacked our chickens and killed several of them. Since we got back home we have managed to prevent any more chicken murders however we can't seem to catch the culprits. They seem to refuse to go inside the cage. Instead they drag it around and attempt to dump the cat food out of the can then shake the cage so food falls on the ground. Then they just move the cage out of the way and have their fancy feast. I've tried staking the cage down but perhaps not well enough. I'm certain I will catch them eventually though.
I did manage to catch two opossums though. We don't have a problem with opossums so we let them go.

You have a nice war going with the racoons being so smart and adept at using their hands. They are really smart not to go in the trap. I had racoons tear up some nice motorcycle seats I had in a storeroom. My neighbor relocated the ones that were bothering me. Good luck with the trapping.
thanks... these guys are smart and seem to work as a team and use the opossums as test subjects lol...
I would suggest investing in some dog-proof raccoon traps. Easy to set with a setter or strong hands, domestic animals cannot get caught, and they are small and easy to hide. the only issue is if you wish to transport them rather than put them down you would need to get them from the trap to a cage.
we have managed to chase the raccoons off for now by injecting the eggs with extremely hot sauce and setting up motion detectors that make noise and scare them off. was gonna upvote all your stuff but nothing is within 7 days.
