When My 7 Year Old Daughter Taught Kung Fu

When My oldest child was 7 she went to public school. She had seen the movie Karate Kid (the new one with Jackie Chan) and had my old karate uniform vfrom when I was a kid.

At school she started teaching her friends some kung fu moves that she would just make up during recess on the playground.

Being the little entrepreneur she was, she made signs to advertise her class.

Her teacher called us to tell us how cute it was and how very creative and popular our daughter was. It was so funny and made us even more proud of her.

The following week, we received a call from the school telling us that we had to make our daughter stop teaching kung fu during recess because she had amassed too many students.

We were told her entire class and several kids from other classes were doing kung fu. I guess the estimate was between 30 and 50 kids doing kung fu at recess.

The fact that a school sees this as a problem is very disturbing and illustrates the destructive nature of public schools.

They punish success, reward mediocrity, and teach obedience to fictional authority.

I wish we would have never put her in those schools.
