I'm pretty sure most of my regular followers know I'm not a big fan of the medical world in general or of most pharmaceutical products. That's because often, they do more harm than good, so I try to stay as much away from them as possible.
I only use "real" medicine sporadically, when it can't really be avoided. I much prefer homeopathic remedies, for one, because they're much less likely to cause horrible side effects or expose you to toxic ingredients. Two, because I know they work.
Not always, but then, what does?

I first got into this homeopathic world about 5 years ago, after going to a homepathic doctor for my acne. I did try regular stuff before, I might add, did the whole dermatologist thing. Didn't help at all and it was obvious even then the doctor, while very nice, was largely clueless (you might have this and maybe you should try this...I get they can't pinpoint every ailment and that acne is a tricky subject, but I've come across this attitude time and again regarding various problems) .

So, I visited a homeopath doctor. The session was very interesting, very different from your normal doctor's appointment. We talked about all sorts of things and I noticed he was focusing on various emotional issues that might be triggering the problem. It was an interesting experience and he came up with a pretty good treatment (which I eventually ditched because of the rather strict dietary requirements and most importantly, the no coffee policy, but that's another story).

We use various homeopathic remedies in my house. Allergies, colds, fevers, all sorts of small time things like that. Thankfully, we've never needed them for "big" issues, but I'm pretty sure that would be my go-to in such a situation.

Now, one of the few pharmacy products I use regularly (as do my parents, for that matter) are nasal drops, which sound harmless, but in fact are very dangerous. As result of prolonged colds, I've found myself in the unpleasant situation of becoming addicted to these bad boys (they do warn you at the pharmacy to not take for more than three days, but when you can't breathe, it's pretty hard to remember the rules). And the worst part about them is not the addiction itself, but the fact that one of the components is very bad for the heart and can lead to heart issues and even cardiac arrest. Pretty bad for some nasal drops, I'd say.

So, in comes homeopathy. After reading up online for the best way to treat congestion with homeopathic remedies, I came up with Sambucus Nigra, which you can see above. It seems to fit the trouble I have breathing and if it's a chance to drop those shitty drops, I'll take it. Anyway, I just got these today, but I do hope they'll work. We shall see.

The belladonna's for my mom and it helps with various ailments such as insomnia, cold, sore throat, asthma and many others...

The thing is a lot of people tend to view such treatments as placebos. If it doesn't come with a prescription, it's probably dubious. Strange, they never look at those meds that do come prescribed as they might also be dubious.
You know what I also find strange? Not once have I come across a homeopathic remedy that put someone's life at risk.

Anyway, use homeopathic remedies. Or don't. You're free to do what's best for you, always. But do your research first. It's not that hard, it only takes what, fifteen minutes? Half an hour tops? To find if the prescribed antibiotic or pills might stop your heart beating or cause hydrocephalus, it's not a long time at all.

Cheers for reading,

Homeopathy is one of those things which is so hard to say for definite that it works or is just a placebo. However, I have been hearing that more trials are starting to show that it does work as more than a placebo. The beauty is, that either way, it does no harm and the placebo effect is still a real thing. Stress is one of the most harmful things to our immune system, so I think If the placebo effect only removes the stress due to the belief that something is working, then it's a remedy.

I hope this works for you. Let me know how it goes.

Homeopathic 'remedies' can't directly put your life at risk because at 1 part per x million, there are very few substances on earth that could do you harm. They can however, indirectly put someones life at risk when they completely ignore traditional medicine and rely on them to cure something serious.
I am a huge fan of natural medicine but homeopathy I detest and refuse to acknowledge it under that banner.
Personally I never take more than a paracetamol, I don't do cold remedies or all the over the counter stuff as I think the majority of over the counter stuff is a waste of time and a money maker and a coffee and couple of paracetamol fixes the symptoms of most minor ailments which then proceed to go away due to the bodies natural defences after a few days in any case.
As you wisely say. Do your research. Just make sure you do it without agenda or prior prejudice :-)
You take care Steemie superstar :-)
