동사구: Away #1

동사구란?

동사구는 하나의 의미를 갖는 두 개 이상의 단어로 구성된 동사입니다. 하나의 동사와 하나의 부사가 만나서 하나의 단어와 하나의 의미가 됩니다.

영어권자가 동사를 사용하는 이유는 어릴 때 진짜 어휘를 모르기 때문입니다. 나이가 들면서 진짜 단어를 배우게 됩니다.

예를 들어
제 다섯 살짜리 딸은 "remove"를 배우기 전에 "do away with"를 배우게 됩니다.

다음은 "away"의 세 가지 가장 중요한 의미들입니다. 다 합쳐서 제가 이 시리즈에서 선택한 16개의 표현들이 있습니다.

Phrasal Verbs: Away #1

A phrasal verb is a verb that consists of two or more words that make one meaning. There is one verb and one or more adverbs that come together to make one word and one meaning.

The reason why English speakers use phrasal verbs is because when we are young, we don't know the real vocabulary word. As we get older in age, we learn the real word.

For example, my five-year-old daughter knows "do away with" before she knows "remove".

Below are the two most important meanings of "away" and one group of other meanings. Altogether, there are 16 phrasal verbs that I have chosen in this series.

Away

1. Withdrawing and separating
2. Disappearing and making things disappear
3. With much effort

Let's start with the first group: Withdrawing and Separating

1. break away
