When India lost to Bangladesh and were eliminated from the group stage of the World Cup 2007, it was obvious that there would be a radical change in the Indian cricket team. Almost everyone expected Rahul Dravid would resign as captain, but the question was who will be the next leader? In this situation, the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) selected Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the captain, which was very much criticized in the media. But this critical decision later changed the history of Indian cricket.

The reason why MS Dhoni is my favorite captain
MS Dhoni returned without scoring any run in the first match of his debut against Bangladesh in international cricket in 2004. He got a chance in Test cricket in 2005 against Sri Lanka. Although he started his career at a slow pace, he was proving that he had actually come to reign in cricket.

Long-haired Dhoni was then a fashion icon for fans even outside of cricket. The whole world was amazed at his quickness behind the wicket as one of the reliance of the team with the bat. Many experienced players of the opponent teams had to accept defeat to Dhoni's cricketing brain. He became known as "Captain Cool". From opening to finisher — all responsibilities have been handled magnificently in his long cricket career. As a finisher he became the terror of the opposition team. And for all these reasons, MS Dhoni is my favorite cricket captain.

Undoubtedly he is best captain and he deserves in team just because of his captaincy. I know he understands cricketer well and their talent and thus he knows where they fit in batting and bowling order.
