So, it was the 27th Match in the World Cup Series. The match was played at Headingley. Sri Lankan Captain Dimuth Karunarathne Won The Toss and Elected To Bat First. Then Sri Lankan Openers, Dimuth Karunarathne and Avishka Fernando came to the middle. But Sri Lanka was unable to have a great start. 2 Quick Wickets fells Within First Three overs. It was Dimuth and Kusal Perera.

Then Avishka and Kusal Mendis Played some great cricket shots and scored decently in the Powerplay. Aviska played very well against Jofra Archer's Short Balls. Unfortunately, Avishka was Caught Out on 49.

Then Angelo Mathews came to the crease. And run rate kept dropping. Then Kusal Mendis Caught for 46 runs. And Jeewan Mendis in the Next ball.

When Batsmen kept falling in the other end, Angelo Mathews Played a Lonely Inning and scored 85 in 115 (5 fours, One Six) balls Helping Sri Lankan scoreboard to climb up to 232 losing 9 Wickets. Archer and Mark Wood took 3 Wickets each.

England Inning

England was unable to have a Good start. Jonny Bairstow LBW(Leg Before Wicket) by Lasith Malinga. Then James Vince in 7th over.

Eoin Morgan played well. But Isuru Udana took a Blinder, a Caught and Ball. In the meantime, Joe Root Scored a Fifty and Caught Behind the Wicket by Kusal Perera.

Then Jos Buttler was looking Dangerous but he was taken care of by Malinga. But still, Ben Stokes was batting.

Turning Point

Until 39th over, the match was in favour for England. Run Rate was just under 6. But in 39th and 41st overs, Dhananjaya De Silva was able to take 3 wickets and it turned the equation upside down.

But Stokes was in Non-striker's end with 50+. In 44th over 9th wicket fell and Sri Lankans were at ease.

Kusal Mendis 😕

In 45th over Kusal Mendis Dropped a catch of Ben Stokes. The bowler, Malinga went on his knees. But it was a tough chance.

But that's ok. Nuwan Pradeep was able to Nick the ball on Mark Wood's Bat at the end of the 47th over and England all out for 212. Sri Lanka Won by 20 runs. And Man of The Match Award was Given to Lasith Malinga. (4 Wickets for 48 Runs).

I remember a Commentator saying " An Innings really was unable to get going at Any Stages" for Sri Lankan Innings but Somehow Sri Lanka ended up Winning. However, England Won the 2019 ICC World Cup but this match makes me feel Like Sri Lanka is the real Champions.
