Hello Cricket Fans
I welcome you all here
I hope you and your family are healthy

INTRODUCTION

When we talk about that, India has managed to win the T20 world cup (2007), the One-day world cup (2011) and the champion trophy (2013), we always talk and praise the captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni for this achievement. Of course, MS Dhoni was, is, and will be the best captain India ever produced but if you see in his achievement, you will find many underlying unsung heroes such as Virendra Sehwag, S. Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina. Personally, I believe that a good team with the perfect combination of bowlers and batting steal the game, not the team with some mind-boggling individual performer.

INDIA's PERFORMANCE - BEFORE 2007

Remember those early days of Indian cricket (before 2006) where the team used to choke under pressure knock-out games such as semifinal or finals. Up to 2005, India has played finals 18 times, ended up losing fifteen, sharing two with only one win.

INDIA'S PERFORMANCE - AFTER 2014

Same as above, if you check the records after 2014, India has played 8 knockouts games but ended up losing all the very crucial games which clearly indicate that India has no players who can perform relentlessly under pressure in the ICC tournaments.

INDIA'S PERFORMANCE -- BETWEEN 2006 TO 2014

As the captain cool was in his peak performance and the entire team had performed well in this era. India managed to win the T20 world cup (2007), the One-day world cup (2011), the champion trophy (2013) and was at 1st rank in all three formats of the Game. But if you say, just due to MS Dhoni we have won all three ICC tournament, then you are an overwhelming fan of MS Dhoni.
If he is responsible for the trophies we have, then he must responsible for the poor performance India had shown in 2007 and 2015 IIC world cup, and 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016 (T20 World Cup). But now, you will say win and lose is part of the game. This data says that India still has choking problems in the big games. we are fortunate that we have seen India winning all the ICC trophies though having such choking problems (see South Africa team they never won any trophies so far).

Then who was the underlying unsung heroes who performed so brilliantly in the finals and won us T20, one day, and ICC champion trophy?. Out of three final's performance, two top-notch performance was given by most underrated opening batsman - Gautam Gambhir. If you take out his performance from both the finals, you have one remaining ICC trophy only, thus making MS Dhoni miserable captain suddenly.

Thus, I believe GAUTAM GAMBHIR is the most underrated player India ever produced. he deserved a better send-off from The cricket but he never gets the credit MSD and other players easily get.

Gautam Gambhir - The Most Underrated Player

Gautam Gambhir is a left-handed opening batsman. Gautam Gambhir has played domestic cricket for Delhi and captained KKR (Won two IPL) and DD in IPL. He has also captained the Indian team in six ODIs and winning all six matches.

1) Memorable Contribution -T20 World Cup Final game -2007
Gautam Gambhir helps India wins in the finals of the T20 World cup (2007) by smashing unbeaten 75 runs from 54 balls only, whereas India's total score was only 157/5. The irony was that he was not even awarded Man of the Match for his performance.

2) Memorable Contribution -World Cup Final game -2011
Who would believe, after S. Tendulkar and V Sehwag's early dismissal, India could manage to chess down a mammoth target of 275 under tremendous pressure at Home Ground. But yes by the grace of God, Gautam Gambhir and V.Kohli Run the game so smoothly initially after the fall of two huge wickets, making India in a strong position.

With the help of Gautam Gambhir's 97 runs from 122 balls, India lift the world cup after 28 years. The irony was, once again he was not awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant performance under the huge pressure.

He still has that dirty jersey - Did not wash it

3) Only Indian player who hits Five 100s in five consecutive Tests
if someone asks me who is the most consecutive batsman in the world after V.Kohli, I would say it's Gautam Gambhir. He hits five consecutive hundred in five consecutive Tests in 2009-10, even Don Bradman could not reach that feat.

4) Only Indian player who hits eleven fifties in eleven consecutive Test
Not only consecutive centuries, but he also has a record of hitting 11 fifties in 11 consecutive test matches in 2008-2010. After that Mr.360, Joe root broke his record of consecutive fifties. V.sehwag also achieved that feat after Gautam Gambhir.

5) 100% winning record while captaining The India
Gambhir had gotten the chance to captain the Indian team in six one-day matches from 2010 to2011. Ended up winning all six matches -100% winning record. of course on the basis of only six matches, nobody can say he was a good captain or not.

6) Career Records
Gambhir had a long career in terms of matches he played. He has smashed a total of 14542 runs with 20 centuries, 99 half-centuries, with an average strike rate of 95. Think about it, a player who used to hit lots of runs consistently and had no permanent position in the team. what would you call him? I would call him most underrated.

7) IPL career - An Aggresive captain
Initially from 2007, Gautam Gambhir played for DD. In the 2011 IPL player auction, Gambhir was brought by The Kolkata Knight Riders for $2.4M, making him the highest-paid cricketer in the history of IPL. He was then appointed as the skipper of the team.

Under Gambhir's captaincy, KKR won their first IPL title in 2012 by defeating Dhoni Led CSK.

In 2014, he led KKR to their second title in 2014 by beating KXI Punjab by 3 wickets. He also helps KKR to reach the playoff in 2016 and 2017.

8) Beyond The Cricket
In his last session of IPL, he had joined DD and appointed as the captain for DD in 2018. But due to Poor performance, he leaves captaincy mid way and then retired from all the formate of cricket on 3rd Dec-2018. After that, he joins Politics and elected as a member of parliament for East Delhi.

9) Final Verdict - Very Blunt In Nature
As of now, you might have understood why he was and is the most underrated player of India. If we respect MSD, Sehwag, Sachin, Ganguly, and Yuvaraj Singh then we must respect this man as well. I know he has some blunt nature and often criticizes MSD but think about it why would he criticize MSD, because MSD has literally pulled out GG's credit in the 2011 final. GG always speaks or tweet directly on someone that makes him bitter and that's he got hatred by people by forgetting his contribution as a cricketer as well as Polititian.

From my point of you and maybe from your point of view now, he had deserved a better send-off from The cricket but he never gets the credit MSD and other players easily get - Thus Making Him the MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER INDIA HAD SO FAR.

That's all folks
