Bone'a'part successfully scares the pants off the frighten'd sailor (a 3 would have already been a stretch, but we'll add +2 for the surprise attack and +2 fer the spook factor). The sailor drops his sword and jumps overboard.
The crew of the ship he boarded was already battle-weary after taking a volley of cannonballs ta the face, and they definitely weren't expectin' a horrific skeleton runnin' amok aboard their vessel. Screeching and flailing, Bone'a'part scares literally the entire crew off their frigate.
He's given a new meanin' ta the term "poopdeck" by the time he's through, and now has control over a brand new frigate (with just some minor wear and tear and cannonball holes here and there).
They say "dead men tell no tales", but any British sailors who were fortunate to make it back to land will tell the tale of the Dead Man fer the rest of their haunted lives.
