Quest: The English Arrr Comin’ (Turn 2)
Avast! Although the Captains have done a fine job in their initial defense, only one of the five British frigates sailin’ on Deadman’s Bay has been destroyed. The four remainin’ vessels have been beaten, bashed, lost many crewmen, and taken heavy damage, but they sail onward.
Maybe it be their loyalty to The Queen, or a boosted morale knowin’ we face the ever loomin’ threat of the encroaching man o’ war, but the attacking Royal Navy has not been deterred. Methinks total annihilation be warranted. Luckily, total annihilation be somethin’ us pirates be quite adept in!
Fer those of ye ready to jump in or arrr short on time, here be the rules fer Turn 2.
Keep readin’ afterwad fer a big ol' text wall with the current quest log, details on the remainin’ frigates, and some helpful tips if ye arrr curious.

Objective: Protect Deadman’s Bay from the invadin’ Royal Navy!

- Newcomers always be welcome! Ye need not have parrrticipated in Turn 1 to join in the fray.

Quest Log (Turn 1)
Through the mystical piratedice, we've learned that there only be 5 frigates comin' fer the crackback. That said, they be mighty strong vessels indeed (difficulty 10)!
1. @battleaxe's siren allies waved goodbye to the Scarlet Reign and are scouring the seas fer buried treasure and weapons. What they find remains to be determined.
2. @underground's Maiden's Distress takes advantage of the recon to position herself for a future flanking maneuver.
3. Cap'n Boneapart (@wwwiebe) and The Luckless ram the leadin' frigate, dealin' 1 damage and giving opportunity for the living skeleton's plans ta board the enemy vessel and begin ta swashbuckle (and scare) the limey sailors.
4. @miryam's fleet blindsides the rear of the Queen's fleet under the dead o' night with hit-and-run tactics. That said, it is very dark at night, of course, so most of cannonballs are shot across the bow or stern of the rear ship. Luckily a few shots hit, doin' 4 damage to the confused vessel.
5. @the.partisan.spy in a currently unnamed ship uses his patented "Iron Storm" technique, layin' waste to the front-left frigate of the Royal Naval fleet in a hail of cannonfire. 10 damage. The enemy ship is totally destroyed.
6. @drlobes' Royal Fortune sails straight up the middle of the incoming navy and unleashes 26 cannonballs at the ships. It remains to be seen whether this destroys the ship that Cap'n Boneapart is boarding. His fire is split, doing 4 damage to the the leading ship and 5 to the front-right ship.
7. @battleaxe's sirens return with cutlasses and a treasure chest. Then she turns Scarlet Reign to fire a volley of flaming and poison projectiles at the incoming fleet. The attack does a moderate 3 damage to the middle frigate's hull but kills many of the sailors on the deck.
This means the followin’ fer the Royal Navy frigates:
- Leading frigate: 5 HP remains – 1 damage from Boneapart, who is boarding, and 4 damage from Royal Fortune.
- Front-left frigate – Destroyed by Iron Storm’s patented “Iron Storm” technique with 10 damage
- Front-right frigate – 5 HP remains - 5 damage from Royal Fortune.
- Middle frigate – 7 HP remains - 3 damage from Scarlet Reign.
- Aft frigate – 6 HP remains - 4 dmg from Miryam's fleet
Of note:
- Cap’n Boneapart (@wwwiebe) is boarding the lead frigate to take on the crew in melee combat. They arrrn’t prepar’d fer what they be about ta see on their deck!
- The Maiden’s Distress (@underground) is in flanking position. He should probably take this chance to launch an attack!
- The Scarlet Reign (@battleaxe) has a treasure chest full of what may be potions. Maybe they be magic?

Quest Log (Turn 2)
The mythical dice finally revealed themselves and have shown us that the British Man o' War be slowly advancin' behind the fleet of frigates. So far it seems undeterred by the carnage.
- The Maiden's Distress (@underground), in a brilliant display of tactical prowess, outflanks the front-right British frigate, decimatin' it's hull with torpedoes and destroyin' it outright. 3 enemy ships remain.
- Cap'n Bone'a'part (@wwwiebe), scares an entire crew off their frigate through maximum spook power. The "poop deck" is now a literal term, and the Skeleton Captain has control over a moderately damaged ship. "They say "dead men tell no tales", but any British sailors who were fortunate to make it back to land will tell the tale of the Dead Man fer the rest of their haunted lives." 2 enemy ships remain.
- The crew of The Royal Fortune (@drlobes), empowered by copious amounts of ale, sail straight fer the center frigate, unleashing the devastating power of her 26 cannons. 8 damage from cannonfire is more than enough to sink the limey vessel. 1 enemy ship remains.
- The Scarlet Reign: While commanding her hoard of loyal sirens to tear apart the final frigate, @battleaxe's crew ignites its deck. The dual attack does 7 damage and destroys the last of the Royal Navy's forces. In addition, Cap'n @battleaxe gifts fer all her fellow Cap'ns cutlasses, vials of exotic poisons, "good times" with her sirens, and much more. Such a generous pirate she be. Through the mutual efferts of this ragtag crew of scoundrels, the deadly fleet of Royal frigates was made short werk of. Tactics and overwhelming firepower were key in the victory that occurred this day, and all of Deadman's Bay is safe once more thanks to its brave defenders' counterattack.
QUEST COMPLETE
The Royal Navy's newest Man o' War has not been deterred by the annihilation of its vanguard. This tremendous ship be thrice as larrrge and boasts even more firepower. The battle may have been won, but the victory will surely be shortlived as the massive enemy slowly comes into view over the horizon.
Keep y'er spyglasses trained on Pirate World (both the community and the Discord server) fer updates.

Bone'a'part does indeed begin to scale the outside of the ship and clamber over the railing. Landing on his feet he jumps out at the nearest sailor: "Boo!" He attempts to take the man's weapon.
If he succeeds Bone'a'part will then run through the main deck swinging and bellowing at whoever comes near.
If he does not succeed Bone'a'part simply runs amok across the main deck making "oogily boogily" faces and otherwise frightening the sailors with the intent of either having them jump overboard, drop their weapons, or soil their trousers. Or any two of the three.

Bone'a'part successfully scares the pants off the frighten'd sailor (a 3 would have already been a stretch, but we'll add +2 for the surprise attack and +2 fer the spook factor). The sailor drops his sword and jumps overboard.
The crew of the ship he boarded was already battle-weary after taking a volley of cannonballs ta the face, and they definitely weren't expectin' a horrific skeleton runnin' amok aboard their vessel. Screeching and flailing, Bone'a'part scares literally the entire crew off their frigate.
He's given a new meanin' ta the term "poopdeck" by the time he's through, and now has control over a brand new frigate (with just some minor wear and tear and cannonball holes here and there).
2 enemy ships remain.
After using my entire turn one to find an advantageous angle of attack, me mighty ship turns and attacks with a full volley of torpedoes aimed at as many targets as possible. @piratedice roll me a good one ARRRRG!

@underground's Maiden's Distress flanks the front-right frigate, which has already sustain'd some damage. Due to his tactical flanking prowess, however, he was able to hit harder and more accurately than a head-on attack.
3 base torpedo damage +2 damage from outflankin' the enemy.
The opposin' frigate's hull is torn to shreds and the corpses of British sailors slowly sink beneath the tumultuous seas.

The British Man o' War seems ta be takin' it's time catchin' up to the quicker frigates. Good for all of us at Deadman's Bay and even better fer the brave corsairs who be on the assault.

As is totally expected, the copious amounts ale imbibed by @drlobes and his crew only served to steady their aim. 26 cannonballs obliterate the center frigate. The fire is only extinguish'd when the vessel finally sinks under the waves.
yaaayy aahhhoooyyyy now we need go patch the wounds provoked by some bad moonshine and those of the ship as well 🥴
