The problem of teaching math at school

The math you learned at school was boring and hard. But actually, there are better ways to learn math. The main problem is that noone teach math at school. We teach our kids just algorithms and formulars. The kids are supposed to learn uninteresting and hard to understand formulars and algorithms to do weird actions with numbers. You must follow crazy rules and remember them.
Math is not about numbers, or algorithms. It's about understanding, the attempt to understand if this statement is true or false, the opportunity to find a mistake and try to solve the problem.
The students who graduated from high school only know the algorithms of solving problems. They don't know anything more about it. They don't know why they need it and how to use it.
The standard tests prepare students to do heavy calculations there is no place for creativity and expressing of ideas.
Math is a language of universe. It us a whole world that students don't understand and are taught incorrectly.
