The benefits of sport in children
From an early age, our children lead a sedentary life and spend many hours at school, reaching it most of the time by car or public transport. Back home, between homework and TV, there is very little time to devote to movement and sports.
Physical activity in children is very important because, if carried out regularly, it helps children to achieve and maintain adequate physical well-being. Sports activity carried out regularly, especially in children, is a fundamental tool for:
- Strengthen the body, preventing diseases;
- Prevent obesity. By increasing energy expenditure, sport contributes to reducing fat mass and increasing lean mass, - - - facilitating more harmonious body growth;
- Promote the proper development and health of the bone system;
- Reduce systolic and diastolic pressure (the two values of blood pressure) if they are altered;
- Restoring the lipid profile (fats circulating in the blood), reducing bad cholesterol (LDL) and increasing the good one (HDL), even in those who take drugs.
On a psychological level, sport allows the child to:
- Acquire good adaptability;
- Fighting anxiety and depression;
- Overcoming shyness and increasing self-esteem, gratified by always learning new exercises;
- Having fun while fighting the difficulties normally encountered;
- Feel satisfied with your commitment;
- Improve social skills, through cooperation with other children;
- Facilitate cognitive skills, through the exploration of the environment and the acquisition of new experiences.
