Greetings to everyone, I welcomed you all once again to the fourth lesson of the English Language Session. I am @abu78 and today I would like us to continue with the topic of Prepositions as we started last week. I hope to give my best to the understanding of all. Without much ado, let's go straight to business.
The types of Prepositions

From the previous lesson, we learned that there are three types of and they are; prepositions of time, prepositions of place, and prepositions of movement. Today we would be looking at the types in detail.

Prepositions of Time:-

Prepositions of time are used in indicating whether something happened or will happen or something happens. Prepositions of time are quite confusing and one must be very careful when dealing with them.

Examples include; at, in, on, after, before, since, until, during, around, etc.

Using them is a sentence form,

a. I learned how to play football games during the vacations

b. I first met my aunty in 2008.

c. Boxing day is on December 26th.

d. I would go to the market after school.

e. My father mostly arrives from work around 4 pm.

As we can see from the above examples, they show when something happened, happens, or will happen.

Prepositions of Place:-

Prepositions of place are used to indicate the positions of something. The proportions on, in, and at used in prepositions of time earlier is similarly used here but over here, it quite gives concrete or accurate information of the place. Other examples include under, inside, outside, below, above, over, etc.

Using them is a sentence form,

a. The Dog jumped over the fence

b. The girl met the father at the station

c. The book is on the table

d. John placed his phone inside the bag

e. The cat likes lying under the chair.

Prepositions of Movement:-

Prepositions of movement are used to indicate how something is moving from one place to another. It is quite simple as compared to that of prepositions of place and time because they are not highly abstract as compared to the other two types. The common example is to.
Other examples include; through, across, into, up, past, down, around, etc.

Using them is a sentence form,

a. My Father traveled across Ghana using his vehicle.

b. The cat chased the rat through the window.

c. The students that visited the mountains went up the hill.

d. Daniela went into the classroom.

e. They traveled over dusty road on their way home.

I would halt here and in our next lesson, we would look at a different topic altogether. Thank You all for your time and attention.

Homework Task:-
