Cryptocurrency ATM Numbers Set to Hit New Highs in 2024
Cointelegraph reported on June 30 that 2,564 cryptocurrency ATMs have been installed globally so far in 2024, aiming to offset the 2,861 removed in 2023. Over the past year, the total number of cryptocurrency ATMs worldwide has surged by 17.8%, reaching 38,279. This is close to the all-time high of 39,541 set in December 2022.
The United States houses over 82% of the world's cryptocurrency ATMs, making it the leading country in this sector. Canada follows in second place with 7.7%. Australia has experienced a remarkable increase, with installations rising nearly 17 times over the past two years to reach 1,107. At this current pace, Australia is projected to surpass Europe's count of 1,584 ATMs soon.
Several other countries have also embraced cryptocurrency ATMs. Spain has 313, Poland has 279, El Salvador has 215, Germany has 177, and Hong Kong has 169. As of now, 72 countries and territories around the globe have installed cryptocurrency ATMs, showcasing the growing acceptance and integration of digital currencies.
This rapid expansion in the number of cryptocurrency ATMs highlights the increasing demand for accessible and decentralized financial services worldwide.
