Best of India Contest | Your favorite Indian food | Nomination from @sampu | Bengali mutton thali at Kolkata
As a bengali, my favorite food is bengali food. Have a look to mutton thali.
The items in the thali were-
(i) Butter milk
(ii) Basmati rice
(iii) Daal (lentil-soup)
(iv) Fried potato
(v) Aalu dom (potato curry)
(vi) Mocha-chingri (cooked banana blossoms with prawn)
(vii) Mixed vegetables
(viii) Mutton curry
(ix) Chatni
(x) Papad (not in the picture as served later)
(xi) Sweet
The food tastes really good. You can have unlimited serving of all the items (except the mutton and the sweets) as much as you can eat. However, they request not to waste foods.
You are starting your meal with butter-milk which is served as welcome drink and have a salty taste. Then you are moving to main course. The rice is good quality basmati rice and the daal is typical home cooked daal with added pieces of coconut. It is well accomplished by lemon.
Then there are three veg items - potato fry, aalur dom and mixed vegetable.
The next item is mocha-chingri. Banana blossoms are well cooked with added prawn and tastes very good.
The mutton curry seems a bit spicy to me, however, both the mutton pieces was well cooked and tastes nice.
At the end, you have chatni, papad and sweets. They served gulab-jamun. As a bengali, I prefer rosogolla or sweet-curd.
We had this thali at an restaurant called 6 Ballygunge Place Thali. The restaurant is in Kolkata. The location of the restaurant in Google map is below-

The restaurant is following the covid norms. They are checking the temperature before allowing people to entry and offering hand sanitizer. All the staffs are vaccinated. The ambience is nice and the waiters are polite. They play instrumental of famous bengali songs in the restaurant.
Menu Card
The mutton thali costs ₹ 355, which is $ 4.81 (as per today's rate) per person. Thali can not be shared between people.
We used to visit the restaurant for good food at reasonable price. We are satisfied with the steps they are following to control the spread of the virus.
