What do I know about the day?

World Day against Trafficking in persons is culled from the discriminate taking of people including children into slavery and suffering. If I am correct, I'll say that Human trafficking has its weak point in Africa during the ancient time. Before the period of civilization in Africa, people were forced to send their relatives out into slavery. The main aim of this program was Children as they dominate the population of trafficked individuals.

This issue poses a problem as the trafficked individuals are forced into slavery and hard labour. They may be sold to sadist masters who take pleasure in their pains and suffering from satisfying him. This continued until the United Nations decided to step in and intervene at that matter. As a result they named 30 July annually as World day against Trafficking in persons.

Description of the Mascot

This mascot spelt out World Day against Trafficking in persons boldly and it's in the middle of two structures which resemble a human body. The structures signify the broken nature of a person who is sold into slavery. I hope this slavery and trafficking should end.

What are the changes you think this day has brought to your community

Since the inception of this day, differ on changes are being seen in the society. Here are a few changes we see prior to the date.

  • Advocacy for trafficked persons: This day serves as an opportunity for advocacy for any trafficked person. Since the day is against the movement of trafficked persons, then the victims can be released and the offender will be punished. That's the secret power of this day.
  • Celebration of freedom: Someone once said, "you can't understand a situation better unless you faced it". So, freedom is being celebrated on this day because freedom is winning and conquering.
Who are the active promoter, and my impact to this day

The active promoter of this day remains the United Nations. They make sure that this day is observed and celebrated annually around the world.
For me, I think of entering the interior parts of villages and have a sensitization program with them. This program will be aimed at informing them to resist any form of trafficking their children into slavery in the form of a forced maid or other forms. Even if the price is mouth watering, they should learn to resist them.

I invite @bossj23, @nsijoro and @usoro01 to this contest.
