Steem Cameroon Contest- My Short Movie Script: Cartoon Animation (Fight Against Drug Addiction)

Good day everyone, I hope the day is going fine. Welcome back to my blog as I will be participating in this week movie script contest.

Drug addiction to me is when one gives total dependence to drugs either medicinal or hard drugs, to the point where the body system adapts to it usage and can't function except it is being used. It is when a person has zero tolerance for taking drugs.

The symptoms of a drug addict are:

• A drug addict shows signs of uncoordination

• A drug addict will always priotize the drug above every other thing and will always have uncontrolled urge to take

• Inability to discontinue the drug even after noticing it effects

• Experiencing unexpected weightloss

• Performing poorly academically or at workplace, among other symptoms.

• Sophie- The social and happy girl, who later suffered from depression

• Lily- Sophie's best friend and classmate

• Justine- Sophie's new friend who introduced her to an antidepressant drug

• Kay- Sophie's rival

• Mr Prince- Kay's father and Physics teacher

Character: Sophie

Sophie was a very beautiful girl who had rich parents that made her their priority and made her felt like a queen, a girl who had all it took to be great in future,she was smart, social and lovable thereby becoming so popular in school.

She had this friend named Lily who was also beautiful, intelligent, talented and an introvert. Lily admired Sophie's social lifestyle so much and saw her as a demi god.

To Sophie, life was meant to be enjoyed and happiness is supposed to be an everyday thing. Her popularity made her join lots of clubs in her school and engaged in meaningful gatherings.

The two girls had been friends right from their 2nd grade in school, shared the same room in the hostel and were so fond of themselves, even when Lily was always leading academically, it wasn't a problem as they valued their friendship

In their 5th grade, Justin was admitted to the same school Lily and Sophie were and they all happened to be in the same class.

Justin seemed cool and nice, one could easily think he is dumb hence his quiet nature. With time he approached the two friends with the intention of being carried along in school since he was a new intake.

Sophie being a social person did not hesitate stretching a friendly hand, a then circle of two friends became a circle of three.

Things continued well for the three friends until a date was fixed for the election of new prefects in school. Obviously Sophie was really interested in the post of a social prefect and would never have thought any one would oppose her.

Kay who was also a student and son to Mr Prince the physics teacher in the prestigeous secondary school which Sophie was also a student had always hated Sophie for being everywhere, he fealt she was a threat to him and was ready to go extra miles just to ensure the election wasn't in her favour.

Meanwhile, Sophie who thought she was going to come up the winner had informed her parent to be in school on that day with souvenirs to share immediately she's announced winner.

After all votes were casted, it was now time for the result to be announced, it started with the school time keeper and then reached the turn of the social prefect.

The high expectations of Sophie and her friends were cut shirt when Jay emerged the winner. The shame and disappointment that clouded Sophie was intensed that she wished to be swallowed by the ground. How Jay managed to win remained a mystery to everyone.

Her parents tried talking her into forgetting about it before they left left to the house, little did they know the disappointment really got to their daughter. Lily did all she could to console her dear friend but all effort proved abortive. The once happy Sophie became a shadow of herself.

Depression set in with full force and Sophie danced to it. Justine offered to help Sophie but made her promise she wasn't going to tell anyone, at this point Sophie was open for anything.

Justine who's dad was a pharmacist knew of an antidepressant drug which his dad usually sold for patients which the drugs were always prescribed for and decided to take a pack of it out without his father's consent but there was no prescription as to how the drugs should be taken.

The drug worked for Sophie, she felt reliefed and was able to carry out some task which she couldn't for some time now, but the mistake she made was that she kept on taking it for a very long time as Justine kept on supplying her with it not paying attention to the implications.

With time, Sophie became so addicted to it and started showing symptoms such as hallucinating, always feeling dizzy and being agitational. Her health and education was in jeopardy.

When Lily noticed that her best friend was gradually loosing it and getting worst by the day, she tried to dig out what the problem could be although Sophie refused uttering a word.

One hot afternoon as Lily was trying to sweep her space in the hostel, she noticed a container under her best friend's bed, when she got hold of it, she discovered that it was an antidepressant drug and it occured to her immediately the reason for Sophie's behavior lately.

She immediately reported to the matron who notified the school authority about the issue and the school authority called in Sofia's parents.

It wasn't a thing of happiness for Sophiesy parent when they got to know about their child's condition. They employed a therapeutic personnel for their daughter while Justine was suspended from school.

The school authority added a new curriculum in school as a means to educate the students about drugs, drug addiction, drug abuse and it consequences.
