No day is ordinary, but some days are just special. The 19th day of August is a very special one as it is celebrates one very unique profession, one in which most of the steemit users belong to. This day is the International world photography day

A photographer is one who skillfully keeps memories through pictures. Photography is an art, science and process of capturing and storing images. It is a wonderful way of expressing oneself and the world.
Steemit as a platform encourages photography and for this reason we have many contest that borders on photography. Each post itself requires an image, which is a solemn call to indulge in photography.

My country was not left out in commemorating this day as various news station echoed the benefits of photography, the history of the day and the significance of photography. To make things even more beautiful various contest were organised amongst professional photography bodies like the Nigerian Association of Photographers (NAP) and others. The contest had the contestants try to capture their world in a single photo and the most creative was rewarded.
On this day too many took to the social media to celebrate their photographers and those who are vested in the art. It was indeed a beautiful day.

The mascot here was drawn by me as a way to celebrate the world photography day. It shows the union of a photographer and his camera and the joy he derives from his job as a memory Keeper. His courage to go through thick and thin to capture memories is represented by the outer jacket and cap. His camera is an extension of his arm and is not tired go to prop his camera for several hours just to make sure memories are kept.

It's a good thing photographers are recognized worldwide because they really have a very important role to play, in every occasion you need a photographer to keep memories of the occasion, it was nice reading through your post friend, by the way your drawing entails a lot.
