Breast Cancer ; The hidden killer we ignore. Part 1
Hello everyone. Hope you guys had a nice day.
This evening, we shall be talking about breast cancer. Why you may ask ? The rates of breast cancer are increasing drastically in the world now such that not only is everyone at risk for having breast cancer, yes everyone including men. Despite it being common among women, it has been known to occur in men as well.
From the current statistics, breast cancer has been labeled the most prevalent cancer and just in 2020, 2.3million women were diagnosed of breast cancer.
Seeing as it is breast cancer awareness month, I believed it was the perfect time to talk about the breast cancer and due to the vastness of the subject, I shall use a few posts to talk about it.
I mentioned before that anyone is at risk of having breast cancer, that is both male and female. This is because even though the mammary glands are not as developed in men like in women, men can still develop breast cancer in the little breast tissue that they have.
Scary right😖?
For this first post, we shall talk about the risk factors of having breast cancer :
Risk factors
• Advanced age
• Alcohol abuse
• Obesity
• Family history of breast or ovarian cancer
• History of exposure to radiation
• Too early or too late sexual development
• Smoking
• Post menopausal hormonal therapy like eostrogen pills etc.
To know what a disease is and how to stop it, we need to know the risk factors. Even though the genetic and age factors cannot be controlled, the rest can be controlled and reducing them, reduces your chances of developing breast cancer.

I do have a few questions under the risk factors though. What type of radiation will increase breast cancer risk? Is it just any type of radiation?
Any type of radiation to be honest. But the chances are more likely if you work where nearby radiation is emitted or you’ve gone through radiotherapy
