Esteem greetings members of our lovely community, we hope your time in the community and steemit as a whole has been amazing. Today, we bring out some key factors that were taken note of, during the first week of the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 4 which we were privileged to be selected among the 7 communities chosen. We hope this brief analysis helps our numerous participants as we hope to reward all good ratings each week. In a way, everyone could become a winner, as long as your entry has good quality.

Screenshots won't be made available because this post is made to create awareness and not to spite our lovely members. Also, we encourage positive critics and welcome questions that are channeled in the right way, so feel free to engage on the reviews you get, as long as it is done with the intent to understand better.
Some aspects that caused participants to score lesser than they bargained for.

NEGLIGENCE:

Under this category of the analysis, we realized that some authors were overconfident with their entry to the point that they do not bother to run it via a plagiarism tool checker, which is very detrimental to them. It is important to understand that the need to always run your publications via a plagiarism checker is very essential because it could match up with already written articles even if you wrote straight from the mind. We have read so many books and articles throughout our lifetime and it is normal for some sentences to become a part of our speech, plagiarism checkers helps us sort out these similarities. So, when we read and compare your entry which was flagged to be plagiarized and we see that it was mere coincidence and can be overlooked, we will still deduct the marks for not making it 100% unique. If only you ran it via a plagiarism checker, you would gave avoided this.

WRONG ASSUMPTIONS:

Under this category, we realized that a vast portion of those that were found here are administrators to some communities and/or have hosted at some point in the past seasons of this challenge. As such, they readily want to dictate how we evaluate their entries despite them not knowing how we evaluate quality. We had a case wherein an author wasn't glad with the score she got for content quality, saying that her entry was lengthy enough and warranted a higher score. It is worth noting that we do not allocate higher scores simply because your entry was lengthy, although more material automatically contributes to the score for content quality category.
So please, we are not using the guidelines of other communities to grade you, the categories might be the same but the analysis vary. We shall try to give you tips on how to create the perfect entry.

LACK OF NEEDED CREATIVITY:

Under this category, it was noticed that a wide majority of authors limited themselves to the guiding questions which wasn't enough. You are expected to be creative and think outside the box, the topic for week 1 was a good topic which everyone could have readily related to, in one way or another in this digital age of ours. As such, it goes without saying that creativity is an add-on rating under the content quality category.

USE OF COPYRIGHT IMAGES:

During this week 1 of the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 4, a couple of entries were noted to have copyright images which is prohibited. All of these images were borrowed from other authors' blogs/articles, from other websites. The authors used these images in their entry posts and simply cited them, which still doesn't change it from being copyright images. It is better to avoid borrowing images from sites that do not offer copyright free images because it takes away the quality of your entry, as well as some marks on plagiarism. Read this publication to know more.

Please for those who get an evaluation and do not bother to check, it is very risky since you are likely to make the same mistake in your next entry and will definitely score even lower if noticed.

NOT FOLLOWING ALL THE RULES

It makes no sense to take hours to create a quality entry just to miss out on dropping the link to your entry in the comment section of the contest announcement post as stated in the Rules. This action is mandatory because it greatly helps to ease the engagement process as other authors can easily access your entries. Not everyone knows how to search for entries that are not made available in the comment section as expected. Although you won't lose marks for this, it will still affect your engagement levels.

EDITED ENTRIES

Although the mark deducted for this is relatively small (in the content quality category), it could contribute to you gaining a perfect score if you have an unedited work. You have enough time to prepare and check your work before publishing, do not forget to always run via plagiarism checker (preferably this 👉🏻https://www.duplichecker.com/)

What to do in order to attain a quality entry.

From the categories addressed above, anyone can easily know what he/she must do in order to obtain a high quality entry.

  • Your entry must be steemexclusive and 100% unique (plagiarism free). This includes images, so avoid using copyright images.

  • Be creative and do not limit your work to the guiding questions alone, make it unique, we want to see your level of creativity because that is what will make your work better than others.

  • Do not spend all your time trying to anticipate or dictate the manner in which we access your work. In other words, you are free to engage on the review given to you and clarifications shall be made, however do not start implementing the categories to be used by us to evaluate your work, that is wrong.

  • Follow all rules to the latter and make sure to drop your entry link in the comment section of the contest announcement publication.

  • Avoid editing your work as much as possible. Prepare and review your entry before your publish.

How do we reward entries throughout this contest?

We believe in the saying that everyone is a winner. As such, we have created a system in which every quality entry walks away with a lucrative vote.

  • All entries that attain a a pass score (at least 5/10), shall get an upvote from the community's curation account (@steem-cameroon).

  • It gets better! All quality entries with a rating of at least 9/10 gets a booming suggestion.

Score Range
Rewards
5.0 - 7.4Upvote from community curation account (@steem-cameroon)
7.5 - 8.9Upvote from community curation account (@steem-cameroon)
9.0 - 10.0Upvote from community curation account (@steem-cameroon)
+ booming suggestion
Entries that already received support from SC01 or SC02 won't gain added support since the aim of this is to support as many good works as possible. In the event of higher number of entries that qualify for the booming reward, we shall prioritize those with absolutely no support from the community curation teams that are in action.

NB: We can also suggest entries with scores as low as 8.5/10, if there are fewer qualifiers for booming Suggestions.

We hope this can entice you all to do your best, and not just create low quality entry for the sake of merely participating.

How do we select our winners?

Quality Entry

The first thing to target is attaining a high score on your entry. This shows your determination to partaking in the contest and aspiration of being amongst the best within our community. Yes we have a score range that lingers around 8/10 to 10/10. This is the first information gathered.

Engagement Levels
  • After which, we carefully check all levels of engagements. This category greatly influences our decision for selecting a winner.

  • However, we encourage daily engagements compared to a cluster numerous comments throughout all entries spread over a fewer days. This challenge is intended for daily, as such we hope to see daily engagements.

  • We keep count of only quality comments, and avoid repetitions because we read these comments carefully, and disqualify those who try to cheat the process. It is better to have 5 quality comments daily than to have 15 low quality or self plagiarized comments daily. Repetition is a form of plagiarism called Self plagiarism, take note.

  • You can not be engaging with a terrible CSI score, take note. Try to support others via distributing upvotes as well, and avoid dropping your voting manna below 80% preferably.

NB:
Avoid spamming other entries with your entry link. You are free to invite another author to visit your entry, but avoid placing the link to your entry in the comment section of other authors' entry posts.
