Marriage, an important union in society, is an allegiance or bond between two individuals which is endorsed by love, patience, protection and harmony to live together as husband and wife. this is believed to be the highest and most significant union in our society.

Is this social union of much value nowadays? This stands as a burning issue for tons of youthful adults around the world who are getting to the age of marriage and are getting the sticks for being unmarried. So here is my view about it all.

What is your understanding of the statement “for better and for worse till death do us part”?

mine.PNG

This is a vow with a lot of meaning to it which most people take for granted after marriage or should I say before and after marriage. "For better, for worse, till death do us part.” is a famous utterance used in marriage vows, with an important meaning that shouldn't be taken for granted.

This is a pledge the groom and bride (not just one person) make to one another, swearing they will love and respect each other “until death (the ultimate end of life) separate their part” and in any circumstances "for better and for worse".

Marriage is beyond legitimacy; rather than being lawfully bound to one another, couples are bound physically for everyone to see, also emotionally, mentally and spiritually in the presence of clergymen as a symbol of respect for their various religions. Marriage is more than couples looking at each other's faces and saying the words "I do". It is declaring to others in the presence of witnesses that "I will today, and forever will till death separates us".

This vow reminds us that marriage is not "I will… until we have a dispute or until one of us has nothing left to offer", but rather, it is "until death does us part". Marriage is not merely a union among two people but rather of two people being entwined, and declaring openly to the world they are solely meant for each other.

Which do you prefer marriage for life or a contract marriage?

mine.PNG

Without any further thoughts, I would say I am 100% married for life. As the previous question said, it's all about the ultimate end.

If I want to marry, it should be someone I am willing to spend the rest of my life with, this should be my better half that completes me and me being the same to her so it's no going back. "for better, for worse". What's the point of being married when we can go our separate ways? Isn't that what the dating and courtship stage is all about? So yes, I prefer "for life" 200% if possible.

Do you agree that house chores should not be a role attached to a particular gender?

mine.PNG

This is why upbringing is very important because there are no chores assigned to a particular gender in this world. The female gender believes that what a man can do, they can do better, so then why can't the male gender borrow that belief?

I agree with this statement as I am a living witness to such an upbringing. I grow up in a family where males even do cooking more than females. Then, the laundry and house cleaning is carried out by everyone. There is something called division of labour and this is done to achieve better and faster outcomes, so this should also be encouraged at home.

Consider yourself a specialist in the field, and share some tips with youths about marriage.?

The truth is no one person knows everything about life, and yes divorce is becoming over-popular around the world in general but the truth is marriage is indeed a wonderful union.

The truth is, marriage is not an easy commitment as with every commitment comes challenges nor is it hard to pull through. You just need to start right and be with someone you want to share the rest of your life with. You will most certainly cherish such a person as long as you live won't you?

Marriage requires work, commitment, and love from both parties, not forgetting the need for respect, success and to be truly happy. But a marriage established on love and affection doesn't just happen. Both partners have to play their cards. Below are some of the important things required of couples on each day to make your marriage successful.

  • Communicate to each other clearly and often
  • Appreciate each other
  • Make time for your partner and family
  • Understand that it's okay to disagree, so learn to compromise
  • Build trust
  • Learn to forgive

No single person is a PhD holder in marriage, even the longest and most expensive marriages experience divorce situations in different ways. But with these few points, you get to have a happy home that may last a lifetime.

CONCLUSION

Marriage - a legal union of two people is indeed an important one, one with a lot of blessings and challenges. Amongst the challenges, one has to remember that Marriage is likened to a gigantic portrait where couples get to brush their moments and create their own love story.
