Gathering leaves and grass for eventually composting.

Some farmers in the communities still hold to the claims that burnt leaves and grass release chemicals that help the farms produce better when burnt with the soil. To a lesser extent, this works for short term crops like potatoes pumkin leaves and huckleberry. But on the contrary, it kills the organisms that could continue to maintain the soil moisture and fertility content. It is therefore important to use leaves in your farm so that they can add air, carbon and retain moisture the the soil than to burn them .

Possible area to get huge quantities of leaves

leaves are so important in farming. For farms that do not have huge quantities of leafs as well as grass,do not bother to compost them but simply gather and burry them in the in the soil. they can also be used to mulch beds especially during dry season cultivation where plants dehydrate faster. If you have an overgrown lawn, you can use the lawnmower to cut the grass and add up leaves to form a compost heap by your home or in your farm. This will help so much in crop cultivation.

When fallen leaves starts to decay.they form what is call humus.Humus us one the most important components to have in the soil.Dead leaves facilitated the movements of microorganisms and helps multiply them in the soil. They help to reduce soil temperature by increasing soil humidity. This is because they permit for air to pass in the soil too. Roots of plants can easily carry nutrients and supply to the entire plant.Thank you dear Steemians for you time.
