Emergency care is care that is provided by medical practitioners before normal care can start. Emergency care is essential in every hospital, which is the core reason for government hospital building.

What is the situation in your country when it comes to emergency care?

The situation of emergency care in Nigeria is very recommendable to me. In Nigeria, when a person is rushed to the hospital, you most surely see some nurses and also a doctor that would attend to the person and give the person what can restore his or her health back as well as know the cause of the person's illness.

Also in Nigeria, there are several government agencies that are in charge of emergency care and work with hospitals. agencies like Federal Road Safety, the Red Cross, State Emergency Management, Management Control, and many others.

In Nigeria, for example, if a person has an accident, road safety officials or anyone around will quickly rush the person to the hospital, and the moment the person arrives at the hospital, treatment will commence immediately since it is an emergency case.

What does it take to humanize healthcare delivery in your country?

In order to humanize healthcare delivery in Nigeria, one needs to go for a medical checkup or an anthental at least once a week. There are some health agencies in Nigeria that take care of humanizing healthcare delivery, of which the most prominent is the NHIS.

The national health insurance scheme is responsible for all things pertaining to health in Nigeria. Their scheme involves registering government workers and providing them with free medical care. Although, when it comes to humanizing healthcare delivery in Nigeria, all pregnant women are advised to always go to antenatal care.

It is through antenatal care that women do get to know about how they can take good care of themselves when they give birth, and also in Nigeria, there is usually a vaccination that is carried out by public health workers to humanize Nigerians.

Do you encourage or discourage the idea of payment before treatment?

No, I never encourage the idea of payment before treatment. So many lives have been lost because of the idea of payment before treatment, which happens mostly in a private hospital.

Like in my case, there was a day that I fell so sick that I needed to be operated on from the appendix that my mom rushed me to one of the best private hospitals in town, where she knew the doctor very well.

As at the time my mom took me to the hospital, she was asked to make payments before treatment could commence, and it was the letter of transfer that was sent from the government hospital in my town via NHIS directive that made the private hospital treat me; if not, I would have paid before receiving treatment.

Payment before treatment is not good, and it's the main reason why people are always saving their money for unforseen circumstances like sickness so they wouldn't be embarrassed when taking themselves to the hospital.

If you are appointed minister of public health in your country, how will you tackle this?

If I am appointed minister of public health in Nigeria, I will tackle the issue of payment before treatment in the following ways:

  • I will create institutions that will be like the NHIS to take care of such issues.

  • The institution that I will create will be in charge of registering all Nigerians.

  • All those who are registered with the institution that I will create will be entitled to receive treatment before payments.

  • The institution will be like and insurance health scheme that will be responsible for taking good care Nigerians health.

  • Anyone who is a registered member of the institution will receive free treatment before making payments, be it in public or private health care.

Advise hospital directors, caregivers, and patients about this issue.

My advice to hospital directors, caregivers, and patients about this issue is that everyone should do what is right, and as for hospital directors and caregivers, they should know that human life is more important than money. Whereas for patients, I am advising them to always do the needful by paying at least a deposit so they can be treated without delay, as health is wealth.

And also, I am advising patients to always make the hospital directors understand their situation in a proper way, even if there is no money at the moment when they are sick.

Hi @jasminemary

We've noticed that you delegated some of your SP to steem-sri.lanka and we decided to reach out to you. If you're looking for passive income then we would like to offer much higher weekly dividents comparing to what you receive right now.

While steem-sri.lanka pays you for your current delegation around 3-4 steem per week, we could offer for the same delegation to @project.hope as much as 5-6 steem weekly.
Quite a difference, isn't it?

If you find it interesting, then consider trying us out with some small delegation first (500SP - 1000 SP).
You can also find out more details about our curation program here.

Cheers :)
