THE SUPER EAGLES OF NIGERIA ARE OUT OF AFCON 2021

It was an wonderful night at the Roumde Adjia stadium in Garoua when the super eagles took on Tunisia in the first knockout match of the AFCON 2021. Nigeria has been one of the most profilic teams in the competition, winning all their group stage games and conceding just one goal in the process. Tunisia who won just a game, lost one and played a tight draw in the other. It was but normal for any football fan to expect Nigeria to have a slim win over Tunisia but as football is a game of possibilities and everything is possible within 90mins, things did not turn up that way. The first half ended 0:0 with Nigeria having the better of the ball. Just 2mins into the second half, Tunisia's captain; Youssef Msakni fired in a long range shot from outside the box to break the dead lock and push Tunisia ahead.

Nigeria pressed with optimism but their hopes were crushed when Alex Iwobi was shown a controversial red card following a VAR check just 5 mins after the player came on the pitch. Tunisia stayed strong and help the 0:1 will the end.
Still on the first knockout match yesterday, Gabon locked horns with Burkina Faso in a very good game.

It was fierce battle at the Limbe stadium on a match that produced over 14 yellow cards. Burkina Faso's captain Betrand Traore missed from the penalty spot at the 18th minute before later converting a good assist from Dango Ouatara.

Gabon pressed hard though without their star man Aubameyang. It was at the 9+1 minute that Gabon's pressure forced Adama Guira to put the ball into his own net. The tie then proceeded to right up to penalties in which Burkina Faso won 7:6 and Gabon are out!

As it stands, Burkina Faso will clash with Tunisia in the next stage of the competition.
- Cameroon - Comoros
- Guinea - Gambia.
