Green Deeds Vol. 06 Contest | pollution in my community Mile3 Nkwen Bamenda

Introduction

Hello 👋 there,

Pollution is really a dangerous environmental effect and my Community is fighting this everyday to stop this this effect because both pants and animals surfers from this. I am based in Bamenda Mile3 Nkwen and here we have been fighting with Land pollution and water pullution because they are a lot of Trash cans and Garbages with Gutters fill with standing waters that have filled our Community. They are a lot of waste papers, plastics, cans, wast food products that are ravaging our community and my heart is so sadden about the situation 🤦.

Our garbages here often contain alot of oil and chemicals with a pungent smell which is extremely dangerous for us even including plants and animal because I remember a person's 🐐 goat in our community had to die after eating a plastic from a Dump(where our community usually empty waste products) 😤. My Community produces alot of Garbages that turns to landfill and most at times its always running out of place to throw away the trash and it will stay long at times before the council vehicle(hysacam ) come and carry the dirt.

Most times our dumps are mostly filled with non-biodegradable products like bottles and plastics which can't be decomposed though the government have placed an embargo on the Community out-large not to do such. but due to Human nature, some people will always go against the law to dump plastic paper and bottles in the trash cans Instead of burning them. So this mostly affect us here in Nkwen and the worst part of it is when the dumps are filled with foodstuffs that contains a lot of oil, it becomes so stinky 😤 and hence attract mosquitoes which become very dangerous to us humans around the area. I for example have been beaten by mosquitoes most times when ever I'm passing besides the dumping area.

Another problem is running waters in the gutters around us here in Nkwen. We have fought vividly to remedy and bring a solution to this problem but it mostly affect us mostly during the raining season because most times when rain fall, there become a lot of standing waters that bring mosquitoes to the community.

Conclusion

I'm pleading on the entire population to always burn down their plastics Instead of puting them in trashes so as to reduce this land pollution. I always make sure I burn down all my plastics because I know the environmental effect when I throw in bins Instead

I Also beg on the entire population to always mind they way they throw their refuge because they mostly go to a dumping area and dump the refuge on an empty ground instead of the refuge container.

I believe if we follow all this rules and also obeys the government on their say about refuge disposal then we all are going to be safe

Thank 🙏 you so much @thegreens for bringing such and Important topic that will surely save everyone in the world if we all put in place the respective measures in keeping our environment and Community clean and free from pollution

There is alot of trash in town in general I hope it can get cleared off soon enough and on time to avoid the plenty rainfalls

Exactly bro, but at times the council stay for long before coming to clear off all the garbages

This is a really dangerous issue. It's sad that some of us can't take care of ourselves by not dumping carelessly. I wish everyone could have the mind to keep the community clean wherever they find themselves.

Exactly dear, we all can keep our environment extremely clean without replying on the government or council to come and pick up our garbages for us.. its just this aspect of most of us that like dumping dirts anywhere that is really polluting our environment

I must confess you are not joking on that.if everyone start seeing things like you do then Bamenda and mile 3 especially will be really in order.

Great steemian. Steem on

Waouh bro! That's a great write up there. Indeed pollution is very bad and affects us in Cameroon a lot. One of the remedies you made me think was to burn the plastics instead of dumping in the cans. I'd like to add that you mention it should be in a closed system coz the smoke from these burnings causes as much effect as dumping.

Thanks for appreciating my Content bro

Yeah indeed this aspect is extremely important and need to be considered because it can cause serious air pollution if not burn Properly. Thanks for your contribution, I forgot to put that
