SEC-S13W6 – Let's talk about things that could improve the world

Today I wanted to invite you to this festive challenge by Steem Venezuela Community:

When we think about the world and what we can do in order to improve it we have t start with ourselves. Living on seashore we often see how after storm and flood there is much garbage that sea tries to "spit out" on shore. Majority of that rubbish are plastic bottles, cans, plastic bags. It is amazing to see how much of it on our little seashore. But if you think about the whole coastal area of the Scotland then it is too much.
What we could do to clean our seas:
- first of all we have to stop throwing anything into water and to teach our children, that is easy to prevent the problem rather then to mobilise the resources for cleaning
- local school here organise regular days on weekend when the school are cleaning the local beaches, of course there are some food and drink is served and many kids come with parents
- after storms the local council should organise the cleaning service so that everything is clean and people can enjoy the beach
- from young school ages such lessons like keeping nature free of our own garbage so that they learnt it as a habit
When I work in our huge hospital facility I see that often people leave computers on when they are going home, sometimes we forget to switch off the air conditioner when leaving or heating, or if there is dripping water in tap we just walk away, such little things need to be fixed.
Therefore, following measures we can take in order to contribute to nature, save our water, using less energy:
- switching off unnecessary equipment when we are going home
- switching off the lights when we are leaving the building
- Switching off air conditioner or heating wen not needed
- closing a dripping tap or repair it if it is broken
There are always many small things that we can do without much efforts and even though we do not think that this is not significant measurements but every little thing helps that is why we have to start with us, own family and our children.
That are what I do in order to contribute for climate protection and what about you?

80% of plastic pollution in our oceans is transported from land to sea via rivers…a lot of it comes from “coastal recreational activities.” I had to look this up because I was curious. People need to clean up their trash while at the beach (river and ocean). I have never thrown garbage anywhere except for a trash can. But now that I think of it, sometimes they don't cover the trash cans up well enough to protect it from the wind on the beach and river…so trash just flies out.

Everything you've proposed here is common sense and it's hard to see that people don't do this naturally. I live on the mainland, far from the sea, but I see how the rivers that flow into the sea also carry huge amounts of plastic. I think that it would be good to put some kind of nets to stop these plastic objects from reaching the sea or the oceans.
There is often small things that we can do and to contribute to the outcome. Thank you for reading my post :)

All this helps is true, but we must take into account the companies that produce the most waste, individually we can do what you say and more, but this is a collective effort and governments must focus on all this, however It is not convenient for governments to change fossil fuels and they play dumb, thinking that we are the ones who elect these people who, once they are in the position they want, nothing more than them matters.
What I do is give it to people who recycle and eliminate what is no longer useful, these people work on this and recycling also helps everyone.
Yes, of course, everyone including industry to contribute. But often nothing happens without regulations from the governance. Recycling is great and that is something that could help to save much more of new resources. Nowadays the question of climate protection is very popular and that is good, that there are many actions and movements.

I share the same opinion, maybe we can't fix the whole world, but if every person who inhabits this planet thought and acted to do their part, maybe things would be a little different. And well, we can always do that part that we have to do, that is within our reach, it is a help no matter how simple it may seem.

Thank you @inspiracion for reading and supporting my actions, when I think if we all understand what we should do and everyone will do that how much it could change? I am glad that there is much more attention to the climate protection now with some of the governmental regulations too.
I completely agree with what you wrote.
Educating to raise awareness makes all the difference.
Children must be educated for this purpose, as well as adults and seniors. Everyone together can make a difference. It's not just my duty, that or the other's duty, it is everyone's duty.

Unfortunately, switching off the lights when leaving the building becomes dangerous in Latin America and south Europe (especially Italy and Spain). Burglaries are very, very common, especially in my former country (in the city where I was born, until I moved to Brazil, there was a burglary each 2 minutes). When tenants switch off the lights, the thieves easier know the apartment is empty, so break-ins multiply. To not talk about the phenomenon of abusive occupation. Sadly, we need to spare resources by other means but switching off the light.

And we all have yo take such initiatives no matter we belong which portion of the world.
