Assalamualaikum all of my friends. How are you all? I hope you are all well. I'm fine too. I am Mohammad Kamran Hossain. Today I am going to participate in the new Engagement Challenge for week 5 in the "Steem Venezuela" community and the theme of today's Engagement Challenge is about a relic or antique from my family. I would like to thank all the members of the "Steem Venezuela" community who have come together to organize such a wonderful Engagement Challenge with family antiques. However, now I present to you a relic or antique of my family.

A brief description of the object

The only relic or antique that my family has is a mahogany box that is about a hundred years old. This wooden box is made from pure wood of large mahogany tree which is very durable and attractive. It has carved design on the front which is done on wood and it looks quite nice. Moreover, the box can safely store all my family members' winter clothes and other items.

The story of the acquisition of the wooden box

Basically the oldest object in my family is a wooden box which is almost 100 years old. My grandfather married my grandmother when we did not have a country called Bangladesh and the three countries Bangladesh, India and Pakistan were called India. Then my grandmother had this antique wooden box given to me by my grandmother's mother-in-law which my grandmother's mother-in-law used for many years. My grandmother kept this box very carefully because it was gifted to her by my grandmother's mother-in-law. On the other hand, when my mother got married to my father in 1993, my grandmother gifted this box to my mother. My grandmother passed away 1.5 years ago and in her absence we have kept this box which is very old and very dear to all my family members.

Some more information about ancient boxes

Around 1931 my grandmother's father-in-law made this box by a skilled craftsman of the time. The box is made of the finest and most durable mahogany wood of the time which is still intact. Since the box is very old, some time ago we added green and red color to the box to enhance the beauty of the box. This box is much better and stronger than any wooden box of the present age. So even today we keep this box given by ancient people or gifted by ancestors.

Although Bangladesh did not have its own currency at that time and the value of money was very high at that time. So I set the principal as an approximation of the present money with the past as my grandmother used to tell us when she was alive.

Conclusion

Many memories and emotions are attached to anything old. Even though I am only 25 years old, my grandmother used to cry in front of us telling the story of this box because it was a gift from her mother-in-law and it held so many memories of my grandmother. Now my grandmother is dead but we still keep this ancient box that was heard in her mouth. These ancient things we have kept with us as signs. My family and I love this antique wooden box.
