Steemit Engagement Challenge S7-W5: Mi reliquia familiar// My family relic.
Greetings friends.
When I saw the Steemit Engagement Challenge S7-W5: Mi reliquia familiar// My family relic, I thought about the relics that were inherited from my grandparents and parents, who are no longer with us.
Yes, there are quite a lot of them, if you count various decorations, wall clocks, or kitchen utensils, which can also be family heirlooms, if, for example, you like to drink tea from a copper samovar, or use silverware rather than nickel during dinner .
Perhaps another time I will talk about this version of the relics, but not today.
In the bedroom, above our bed, I hung that relic that greatly inspires me and my children to create.
She reminds us that my mother, and the grandmother of my children, was a very creative person and loved to challenge herself in those days when there was no Internet and you could not see how to make something, make it, you had to , or find a person who is a master of his craft, or experiment a lot.
Once, my mother saw a panel in the form of a sailing ship made of straw.
I also saw it and I thought it was made from sea shells, but. as it turned out, it was straw.
So, after a lot of research, my mother found out that oat straw is required, it is best suited for such purposes, and I was instructed to ride around the city on a bicycle, after harvesting, and find an opportunity to collect oat straw.
I went to neighboring villages and asked people where there was such a field in the neighborhood and, as a result, I found a site that the combine could not reach and there it was possible to cut a certain amount of ears of oats, which was enough to do the job.
To be honest, I had no idea how such beauty could be created from straw, but, as they say, water wears away a stone, and my mother was very persistent and patient, therefore, she succeeded.
I watched her work and, today, I can tell my children how to make something similar, especially since my mother entrusted me with cutting templates for a future picture, I was thirteen years old then.
This painting is now represented in this photograph.
A good example for me and my children is that the one who wants to do something is looking for opportunities to realize it, and the one who is lazy is looking for reasons not to do it.
In case you want to leave a picture of straw for your descendants, then I will briefly tell you how to make it.
You will need straw, as I said, oat straw is ideal, scissors, glue, paper and an iron.
To this you need to add the desire to do something with your own hands.
Straw can be cut into such segments, so it will be easier to work.
Now, along one side of the straw we make an incision, we cut it.
Then, it must be carefully opened like a book.
Gently smooth on paper with an iron, cover the straw with a second sheet of paper.
Then, glue the aligned layer of straw to the paper and add the next layer to it, next to it.
Now you can start cutting out the elements of the future picture that we thought out.
For the effect of volume, if necessary, the straw can be tinted by additional heating with an iron, the stronger the heating, the darker the straw will be.
Straw looks good on a black background, therefore, black fabric, velvet, or calico will be a good basis for the picture.
As a result, you leave to your descendants a relic in the form of a very durable painting and the motivation to do something with your own hands.

@barsli, Friend, that relic that your mother made without having experience, is a work of art. She had a lot of wit and imagination.
They did teamwork, you touring the town looking for the material and your mother with a lot of patience and ingenuity.
Surely they take care of that beautiful work with great care and passion, whoever wants it can your mom said I will do it and she did it.
Thank you for telling us the story of your relics friend, in addition to giving us a step by step on how to do it.
