I posing on the railway lines in my hometown.
In the 90s when Trains were still functioning well in the Middle Belt of Nigeria, there was a Railway Station in my hometown not far away from the area we are living which is just about a kilometer away. And behind the area we are living, there is a Christian cemetery.
Back then when people rarely die, there used to be burial ceremony once in a long while and each time a corpes was taken to be buried, as children, we were sent inside our houses to be hidden until they must have passed with the dead before we crawled out of our hiding.
In the same manner, each time a passenger dies in the Train without any form of identification or from a distant place where they corpes cannot be preserved to be taken to his/her people, he/she will be bundled up and taken out of the Train down to the cemetery behind my Area by the railway workers and be buried in a shallow grave. We believed the graves were shallow because it hardly take them 30 minutes to dig up and bury the dead. But one thing is certain; so many strangers were buried in that cemetery behind our houses.
And so, going behind the house in the night seems like suicide mission to most of the children in my Area back then. And as Africans, we were trained to greet and respect our elders, even strangers.
In regards to my paranormal experiences, there used to be certain times between 1:00 pm to 2:30pm we usually experience strange things.
I could vividly remember on three occurrences when a man was passing one afternoon while we were playing on the street. The man was covered with a lot of mud on his body. As children, we thought someone died and men went to dig up a grave. So we greeted him but he never responded, never turned to look at us but kept straight face barefooted passing. And we wondered why but after some time, he came back and we greeted again but he still didn't answer.
As a child, I asked my father later in the night if someone died but he said no, so I shared that encounter with him but he waved it off saying I was talking childish.

There was another encounter after a long time, yet the barefooted stranger who had the same features with the first one repeated the same attitude. But this time around, I didn't tell my father.
It happened again but this time around, more adults were also outside their houses receiving fresh air in front of their houses or under the trees as it was a hot sunny day.
The same old story happened but this time, it was a barefooted woman who neither greeted our elders nor responded to the children's greetings. I asked an elder if women digs grave also buy he said no. Then I said why did this woman went to dig? I was shushed.
So our elders kept wondering who the strange woman was and we told them about our encounter and some of the elders who had the encounter shared theirs and everyone concluded they were ghost because they seems to be coming out by same time of the day, returning by the same time, sraight face, muddy body and barefooted under the hot sun.
