Yes, I completely agree.
A mobile app would be great to have but it requires a lot of development effort and a team would be required to work on it.
I am not sure if this is something already in the Steemit development pipeline or there could be a reason of not developing it.
We can actually start off with a free-to-use model. Like we can implement this first on Discord and see how much effect this has on the engagement. Cause I don't think going right into a paid Whatsapp notification model would be accepted by the majority of the community. Anyways, a poll on @steemitblog's account should give us an estimate on the demand for this feature.
PS: I'm all in to contribute to this project once its open source!
