SEC-S18W4 | My worst holiday travel memory: Toad, wet blankets and roofer on Sunday morning

When we plan holiday we try to organise it ourselves and to be independent from anything and anyone, that means:
we travel ourselves: either using car or booking train direct from Train company or plane if it is necessary also direct from Airline (that was very, very long ago)
we do not take any all inclusive, because if someone will do for you something then you do not know if it will be all right
we prefer to stay in bungalow rather than in hotel if we go for a long time
also we love to cook ourselves
That is why this is how our holiday look like. But when we had young child and wanted to give such unforgettable experience of Centre Parcs, then understandably we had to book everything from them. We decided to spend our three weeks of holidays and enjoy the freshness and freedom to be one with nature and here it is our worst Holiday memory.

We were very excited about the holiday time, we drove our car it was not very long journey and we also could have some toys for our kid.
There are few horrible moments that we experienced and since then we said: Never again!
The first surprised was waiting in entrance hall before entering into the room, it was a bog Toad! Me and our child was frightened, my hubby did not want to get it out of the hall, so we just left it there untouched with the hope that if it was able to enter then it should be able to leave that space.
The bungalows were under trees in shadow and it seemed that due to a lot of leaves sun never gets through. Therefore our first night in our bed we had feeling of heavy and wet blankets. That was so disgusting and none of us were able to sleep through the night.
We arrived mid of the week and later on on Sunday morning at 7AM when we were still sleeping we heard a lot of noises on our roof, like someone is climbing and walking of roof. Me and my hubby just looked at each other and thought that it might be some kids and probably will go away.
The next moment we started to hear loud hammering and electric equipment on our roof, so I lost my temper and went out. There were couple of handymen and they were surprised to see us coming out of the bungalow. Then I asked what are they going to do there on roof, they answered that they have to change the cover of roof. When I said that we are on holiday and booked that bungalow for 3 weeks, they just told that they have an order to do their job and continued.
I was furious and went to reception desk and asked what they think we are here for and why the roofers on our roof. The woman was also surprised as she saw nothing in computer. I then asked her to come along and once she was there and checked their papers she pointed to them that they were on a wrong roof.
At this stage I decided to tell everything that accumulated in us including a Toad in hall, wet blankets and roofers on Sunday and told that we are very disappointed. We were given another bungalow and also a voucher for dinner for three of us.
Despite of that for us it was clear: Center Parc: Never again! Until now this is the worst experience of our holidays

La verdad que encontrar, como primer invitado, a un sapo, es algo que no se espera al comienzo de unas vacaciones. Luego la experiencia de las mantas húmedas, lo cual puede ser terrible para el descanso y, por último, los hombres trabajando en el techo un domingo... todo eso indica que se trata de una empresa de alojamiento que no controla ni supervisa nada de lo que lleva a cabo., una desorganización total. creo que yo también hubiese decidido no volver más. Hello traveler! 👋🏼@stef1, as a frequent traveler we all face such problems which in some cases are due to misunderstandings or subpar booking agencies. I have had such problems but got them solved however they are disgusting as well disturb your jolly mood.

Yes, it is very frustrating to have a holiday spoiled, we wished to go back but because of booking in advance our time we had to get through :)

If you ever decide to visit Center Parcs again, make sure you raise your concerns directly with the staff so they can address them and improve your overall experience :)
It's unfortunate to hear that you had a bad experience while on vacation. Especially when we spend extra money for a good service, but what we get is not as expected. It's really annoying, I hope you won't experience this again on another trip 👍🙏
God, just reading you made me angry too, that is what is called a great abuse of those who rent the cabins, as they are not going to realize that for God's sake.
I won't come back again and I don't recommend it to anyone else.
Dear friend, I'm so sorry about the challenges you encountered on your holiday with your husband. I can imagine sleeping with a wet blanket, seeing a toad in the hallway and as if that isn't enough roofers were working on the roof when you guys where still. I'm really sorry about your experience.
