#TRAVEL My Weekly Powerup | #club100 | Winemaking in Norway – is that possible? | #steemexclusive / 9 photos
We were met by the owner himself. Besides serving us sparkling wine, white and red, he spended time talking to us. Together with his wife, they started all this in 2020 when they bought the first 350 plants. They chose to start with three varieties of grapes: Solaris, Rondo and Bolero. Now they have expanded both the amount of fields with a variety when it comes to the grapes. The plan is to experiment with blends.
They make white, rose and red wine and the name of the wines are Komorebi. It’s a Japanese expression meaning something like “sunbeams through leaves”. We started with two sparkling wines. A white made of Solaris and a rosé from Rondo. They were both great wines, but the white sparkling was a real surprise! Last year they produced 450 bottles of wine. He did tell us that it takes time and lots of work. He told us about the different stages of winemaking. There is something to do all year round. Along the way this couple has had help from other winemakers and they have a couch. They make experiments and they do fail now and then. But then they try again. They do have an idea of making more arrangements that includes tastings and food.
After the first three years of winemaking, they were awarded at the “Norsk Vinskue” in Sandefjord. Gold medal and first price for a sparkling wine (the one we tasted). Third price for a white wine. That is quite a good start for such a small winery. As we talked about wine the winemaker also told us that England makes excellent wine as well. All over the southern coast of Norway there keep coming new wineries. The raise of temperature makes this possible (probably). I also know that there are lots of wineries in Denmark where the Solaris grape is the most popular. It seems as a grape that grows well in Nordic countries.
Will Voie Vin be able to make better and better wines? I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Hello traveler! 👋🏼@digi-me, you have shown us the winery in Norway that took me to NSW where I have done the same in several wineries for free and on a paid basis.

Thank you for the feedback. You are lucky to been paid ... I had to pay quite a lot! compared with wine tastings in typical wine growing countries, this tasting was expensive. But worth it though. I am excited that our country can make wine like these :)
Thanks, but I said, I have done paid testing and free wine tasting but even the free ones had an entry charge. You know I live in Australia where the winery is a scale business. They even do wine-tasting trips to the Blue Mountains in New South Wales by helicopter and charge a hefty sum for lunch and wine. A few wineries offer night stays, dinner and wine tasting of course.

Wow! I guess there are wine tastings that do cost a lot of money! Must be great to stay overnight at one of the wineries.......I havn't been to Australia yet, but when / if I go, I have to try to make a tour to wineries 😊
