#TRAVEL My Weekly Powerup | #club100 | Hiking on the edge on an Indian Ocean island | #steemexclusive / 12 photos
We spent the night in the small town of Guillaume, which is approx. 14 km. from Maïdo Viewpoint. We had chosen to live so close to it as it is best to arrive early. During the day, the clouds will be lower than the rim of the crater and you will therefore not see the bottom of the valley. But, one can never be sure about the weather. The clouds can disapear for some minutes and then they can occur again. The viewpoint is located on an altitude of 2.205 meters above sea level, which will enable an incredible view of Cirques.
After parking the car we went to the viewpoint. There were already clouds. Not only does Maïdo offer incredible views of Mafate, but it is also the starting point for many hikes in different directions. Our plan was to follow the rim south towards the Grand Bénare. Because we had a car, we would need to return at some point at go back to the car park.
The clouds did disappear and revealed parts of Mafate to us. But later the fog apperared. That made us return back. The fog made it difficult to see the marks on the trail. But we did get some great moments with incredible view. Even clouds and fog added some kind of mysterious atmosphere. It was a good day, never the less.

Hello traveler! 👋🏼@digi-me, as usual, you have a great presentation in TC and post full of breath taking description of this beautiful area. Incidentally, I was flying over the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal starting from Canberra via Tasman, Zava Sea, and Bay of Bengal but the extra turbulence was making me scared due to the ongoing cyclones in this area.

You took a trip to island and then shared your pictures with us. Looking at the picture and reading your post, it seems that you had a lot of fun there
I really enjoyed this island 😊
Very beautiful, very beautiful, very beautiful scene, the more I can describe it, the less it is. Clouds hidden in the fog, Maffat are telling this story in its own mystery. You captured so much beauty closely in your camera. The heart is always desperate to see such beauty. This is a creation made by God and if you see it, you keep looking at it. Keep sharing such pictures of beauty with us, thank you.
Thank you 😊
