Interviewing an Steemian

in Comunidad Latina10 months ago (edited)

Hello dear friends, I want to take advantage of this opportunity that the Cotina Challenge gives us to interview a Steemian, who I know some of you don't know.

And those of us who know him can say that he has a multifaceted profile, he is an author with a somewhat ironic humor, which at least makes me laugh many times, has been a moderator in several communities, curator, a developer of tools for Steemit, and he has also been a dedicated person to combat plagiarism on Steemit:

Meet @the-gorilla

To begin with, why a gorilla?

Why not? 😉 I don't know really... my first email address about 25 years ago contained the word "gorilla" in it and I've used it online ever since. I've also owned a soft toy gorilla since I was a child and I can link it to a lot of happy childhood memories.

A phrase that inspires you…

I'm going to cheat with this one because I have a few...

  1. Continue to learn
  2. Enjoy what you have, don't be concerned by what you don't
  3. Explore the world around you...

I'm also a big fan of Stephen Covey's: "Seek first to understand, then to be understood". So many 🙂

A song that you can't stop listening to...

I love so much music... 1 song though... Pharrell Williams - Happy. We chose it for our 1st dance at our wedding.

A book that changed your life...

Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Successful People - it helped me to reframe how I looked at myself and the world.

A movie that you have seen several times...

Paw Patrol: The Movie. Other than that, I watched True Lies many, many times.

🎥 My Most Watched Movie
Your ideal place…

Kuredu Island in the Maldives. We went there on our honeymoon... paradise.

What makes you smile...

2 hamsters, 1 wheel. Guaranteed to bring me to tears- Ignore every other answer... this video's pure gold.

My all-time favourite video

I know that when you came to Steemit, and wrote in the Newcomer community, you did not receive responses and yet you continued forward, what maintained your desire to continue despite everything?

Good question... probably curiosity more than anything else. I wrote a post fairly soon after joining and I wrote: " I'm here because I need an escape from life as a full time dad, the money's a bonus"... and I also said: "There are some really decent people here"... so a few things really. It's funny looking back at that post now.

Life on Steemit: My Story - Episode 1
Are there any conditions that you think a person should have to create content and stay in that activity even when hard times arrive? In your opinion, what is needed?

A few things spring to mind and I've just deleted them all to keep it simple... write about something you enjoy. Write for yourself, not for steemcurator or for anybody else. Write because you enjoy writing. That way, the only hard time that you'll ever encounter is time (my greatest foe).

Perhaps my answer explains why I don't like there being so many contests and engagement challenges... people aren't choosing a subject they're passionate about and therefore can't demonstrate the freedom of expression that an author with original ideas would share. This is badly worded but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say🙂

And finally, explain to us a little about the tools that you have created for Steemit (briefly) , and if you can share a link to a publication that you have created that serves as a tutorial, it would be interesting, this to learn more about your work.

I've actually written loads - many of which are for a specific purpose that people use behind the scenes. You'll see in the footer of each of my posts, a link to the 2 main tools:

Screenshot 2024-01-26 215349.png

https://raptor.in.ua/clubstatus.php?author=the-gorilla

These are both a continuation of "creating things that I want to see". When I was a steencurator, I found it difficult to find content. So I created @curator-helper (which I've stopped) and my new front end. Other Club Status tools had "loop-holes"...

...which allowed certain people to "deceive" the curators. So I built my own one. I have plans to enhance this further which should be interesting 🙂

I've written a page to help with the "daily booming" analysis, one to review beneficiaries to certain accounts, one to highlight accounts that abuse the 15SP, one to review all Newcomers' photos... there will be more that I've forgotten. If I see a problem that a bit of code can help with, I'll write it.

I try to make sure that all of the tools I've written don't require a guide or an explanation with the idea that "The User Experience is like a joke... if it needs explaining, it's not very good".

Very interesting questions - quite a mix there and I couldn't help but ramble away 🙂

Oh great, that's the idea that you could ramble and feel comfortable, like when you talk to a friend 🙂Thank you very much for granting me this interview and giving us part of your valuable time. I hope we can continue talking in the future and sharing as we have until now😊

Why did you choose that person?

Although I have known the-gorilla for some time, he continues to be an enigmatic person to me... Before, I didn't know who he was or where he came from, but I got to know him through his publications and comments.

He catches my attention because he is a very intelligent person, with a great sense of humor, sometimes sarcastic or ironic, but always fun. And although he is a great researcher and can be suspicious, he is also a sensitive person with a lot of empathy. As you can see, he is a very prolific and interesting creator.

Do you think it is important to interact with other people on Steemit?

It is important to relate to others, just as in offline life, relating expands our world, makes us leave our comfort zone and discover new ways of seeing and understanding life.

There is a lot we are going to gain when we interact with other people, and it is the same in Steemit, we gain experiences and learning.

To finish, I invite @marito74, @o1eh, and especially @ubongudofot to tell me what you thought of my interview? 😃

Muchas gracias por leer y comentar.

HOW YOU CAN RECOVER YOUR LOST CRYPTO: I lost a lot of money a month ago when I saw the opportunity to invest in cryptocurrency; and this is why I suggest to everyone out there to seek more knowledge before investing in cryptocurrency as there are people out there who seize this opportunity to defraud victims of their hard-earned money through cryptocurrency investment. I was lucky enough to do my research and found out I have been coined $892,000 worth of Bitcoin & Ethereum after falling victim. It was not long after I discovered the services of hackersteve911, who took some information from me to investigate and recover all the money that I lost in this scam. I’m truly grateful for the services of hackersteve911, the best cryptocurrency recovery out there. If you need his services and his team of experts to help you recover your cryptocurrency without any delay, you should contact him via: [email protected]
