Why lemon water is not a good way to lose belly fat

Many women especially can attest to the ever lingering fat around their belly area. This blely fat could arise for so many reasons including the following;

  • You consume a lot of alcohol giving you a beer gut.
  • You have given birth and the expanded belly doesn't want to contract even after our hormones have been balanced causing a saggy belly.
  • You consume a lot of sugar which gets stored around your belly as fat.

There are several other reasons why we have big bellies but one thing should be made clear. Belly fat is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. It is still part of your body and you have to love yourself. However, most women have decided to get rid of this belly fat through so many different ways such as core exercises and liposuction.

Nowadays, doing things the natural way is gradually on the rise and there are several people bringing out ways for you to lose belly fat without exercise. We keep seeing "Lose belly fat drinks" everywhere and we can't help our busy selves who just don't like exercising.

Something that I've noticed recently is the introduction of lemon water. Many women claim that by drinking lemon juice squeezed in cold or warm water every morning on an empty stomach, they saw changes in their bellies. There is no scientific backing to prove this but a hypothesis is that this is possible because lemon water has fewer calories. Also, it makes the individual to be hungry and eat at regular intervals this increasing the metabolic rate by making the body burn more calories instead.

But the adverse effects of drinking lemon water regularly is well proven. Some of the negative effects include:-

  1. Lemons contain citrus acid, making lemon water acidic. When you drink it regularly, you expose your teeth to damage as the acid erodes the enamel.

  2. The acidity of lemon water also triggers avid refluxes and gastroesophageal reflux diseases which end up causing heartburn, nausea or even vomiting.

  3. If you consume it heavily, you might also end up feeling dehydrated sure to the diuretic property of ascorbic acid present in the lemon.

Thus dear women, lemon water should not be used as a belly fat reduction therapy as the effects are too terrible to be ignored. If you need a liquid to help you, plain water is always the best option.
NB:

  • If you drink lemon water for pleasure, ensure that you drink plenty of plain water along side and also drink it moderately and less frequently. In case you generally experience heartburn, try to avoid lemon water or citric fruity water in general.

Thank you so much for sharing Sis. I have tried lemon drinks for weight management after birth but my body wasn’t compatible with it. It makes me dizzy and I had to stop.
If they work for you, please continue using them because lemons have a good level of alkalinity that is useful for detoxification in our bodies.
Thank you so much
