Bringing Smiles to the Kids | Chain of Goodness Event

Since the start of this pandemic, many lives have been struggling and ended up losing hope. So just by making a little act of kindness we realize something that is worth it. It's not how much money we have in our pocket but the kindness we can extend to those needs our help.

But even with how much struggle we are facing today, we are still thankful because we are still alive and have the time to recover from this situation.

To make some life special we bring some good news to them by giving them some groceries and things that they can use for their everyday living. I know this is not for a month of supplies but still I know this will become a big help to them.

Our Arrival at the Mountain Part of Cebu Philippines

We arrive at their place early in the morning so that we can unpacked our things and can prepare our program for them. We make a phone call for their barangay representatives so they can pick us up at the main road and bring us to the designated place.

Unpacking of our Food and Gifts

When we arrive we start unpacking everything we bring and place it to the table that they organize for us. We decorate the place a little bit, put some banners on the wall and check if the equipment is working. The townspeople started to gather at the place and we didn't expect that they're so many kids but the good thing is that there's no shortage of food.

Everything we prepare from today comes from above, our Father God. We should thank Him because He just uses us to be the vessel of giving His grace to the people.

The Start of the Program

We begin our little program with an opening prayer, followed by introducing ourselves to them. We prepare some speeches to them on why we are doing this program and why we choose them among the other barangay. We also share some words of God to them to make sure that they don’t lose hope of whatever is happening in our world today. We can recover from it by the guidance of God and by simply praying.

Contest & Games

After a short while we began our contest for the kids. We warm up for a little so our body will not become stiff afterwards. We have a singing contest and give gifts to the winner. We make them dance to the music that we provide (kids will always be kids full of energy and stamina).

Distribution of Food Packs

We relax for a little after our energy drain due to the contest that we prepare. Now it’s the time to share the food that we prepare. The one we buy from Jollibee (a famous fast food chain in the Philippines) before we arrived at their barangay.
We make them form a straight line so the distribution will be smooth and everything will fall into places. I think also for their family for guiding their children on how to fall in line.

Distributing of Gifts

Now our stomach is full and we have gained the energy that we need. It’s time to give them their Gifts, the school supplies that we bring and prepare for them. A line is formed again and you can see the kids eyes mesmerizing on what they see. A gift that can help them for their school needs.

The Kids Smiles

It's wonderful to see such children enjoying their childhood days with happiness and cheerfulness. It’s their smile that makes us go, every time you see them smiling back at you will replenish the energy you lost on that day. It's really a pleasure to hear them say thank you every time you give them some gifts. I’m amazed at how happy they are even though our program is so short.

Personally, I’m really touched on how they accept us in their place, on how they show generosity and gratitude toward us. I’m thrilled to go back and bring something to them again. I hope that our group can inspire others to do the same. I hope we encourage you that giving to others really can make your life happier.
