SteemWomen Club Community: Chain of Goodness|| Feeding Program and Giving of Gifts to Less Fortunate Children in the Philippines
Paying it forward…
Hello SteemWomen Club, I am April Marie Yaun. This is my first post here, and I’m really glad because I will be sharing to you our little act of kindness to the less fortunate children here in the Philippines.
It was the beginning of the year when me and my friends planned to share our blessings to the less fortunate children in our community. We planned to have a feeding program for these children and give them a little dose of happiness, gifts, toys, and school supplies. Also, we have prepared dance presentation and games to entertain the children. We have also asked our other friends to donate their used toys, clothes, or give few school supplies to be equally distributed for more than 30 children.
Finally, when everything was ready and prepared, we have decided to conduct the feeding program on a Sunday afternoon on the month of February. We went to Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines and met the children we want to share our blessings with.
The children were gathered, and they were very excited upon seeing us with lots of gifts we brought for them. Their faces went bright and most probably they were feeling euphoric by the thought of receiving gifts on that day. I mean, who wouldn’t be? Even us adults would also get excited to receive gifts, right?
When we arrived, we cooked fried chicken and spaghetti, children would be so happy if they could eat these two dishes. While some of us were cooking, others were already entertaining the children with the dance presentation we prepared and a few games we planned to play with them.
After few hours, the food was ready. We set the table outside and instructed the children to form a line for the distribution of food to be organized. The children were polite enough to follow.
On the last part of our program was the giving of gifts to the children. The paper bags were numbered 1 – 30+. What’s inside the bags? School supplies, toys, and used clothes. Each child was given a piece of paper with a written number on it. We have drawn the number by lot, and whenever a number was picked, a child with the same number we have drawn will come in front to receive his/her bag.
When everyone has received their bags, time to open it! Children were really happy; you could see how grateful they were and how contented they were. Seeing them smiling and hearing their thank you’s was so heart-warming. I hope I could do this more often.
Thank you for reading! This has been a good activity. I would like to say thank you to @steemwomenclub for creating this event, Chain of Goodness! Thank you also to @steemcurator01, @steemcurator02, and @booming for supporting this community. Women empowerment it is!
