CONTEST!! CONTEST!! HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN TERMS OR JARGONS ON THE BLOCKCHAIN TO YOUR FELLOW STEEMIAN AND HOW WILL YOU HELP THEM TO ACQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH IT AND USE THEM APPROPRIATELY IN THEIR STEEM LIFE!!
Its so good to be here again, i welcome you all and i believe you all are doing well.
I appreciate @steem-ghana, @juzkid and @appongk for hosting this contest titled How do you explain terms or jargons on the blockchain to your fellow steemians and how you help them to acquaint themselves with it and use them approparately in their steem life.
Well if am to explain terms or jargons on the blockchain to a fellow steemian and help him or her acquaint themselves with it i think i would first explain the term of making quality post, before moving on to explain some terms used on the blockchain. And here are a few of those terms i will explain.
First i will explain the term plagiarism as a crime or offence here on steemit.
I will explain to the new steemian that plagiarism simply means coping someone else work which includes pictures or written words as your work, without acknowledging that you took it from them. I will tell them if you must copy from someone then you must acknowledge where you got what you copied by putting the link to the original work underneath what was copied.
I would also tell the new steemain that here on steemit, plagiarism is one of the biggest offence frond at by the steemit team. So in other to avoid plagiarism make original contents and use plagiarism checkers.
I would explain steem to the new steemian as this; i would say Steem is a crypto currency of the blockchain called steemit.
I will tell them that just like we have bitcoin, etherum and others, steem is also one of the crypto currencies. I would tell them that steem is one of the token earned on steemit when quality contents are made by users. I would tell them you can earn steem when you are actively involved on the blockchain through contests, and content writting or buy with your traditional money.
I would tell the new steemian that the term Newbies is used to refer to those users who newly joined the platform.
Newbies are less than 3months old. Most times they dont know their left from right so they need mentorship and guidance on how to explore steemit. Newbies is term used to identify new intakes on the platform just like what you have in some organisations or institutions, they have words unique to them they use to identify people who just joined them.
steem power i would start by telling the new steemian that if you must succeed on steemit you must understand the concept of steem power.
Steem power is your visibility on steemit and should not be taken likely. I would tell the new steemian that steem power is also one of the rewards earned on steemit. Just as the team power is added to the word steem to become steem power thats exaclty a description of what steem power actually means. Steem power is your power, strength and value on the platform. Your steem earned can also be converted to steem power and locked up in a fixed deposit account. Your steem power is what enables your vote to count. The more steem power you have the more value you bring to your self, the post you vote and of course the platform. I would tell the new steemian that one of the best ways to save up steem power is to join the new initiate of the platform called #club5050 which helps you save 50% of what you earn and transfered out from your account. I would also encourage the new steemian that he or she can invest on his steempower by buying steem and powering up.
I will explain to the new steemian that communities on steemit simply means family. Nobody ever exit on earth without coming from a family, a home.
It is in a family you can get the first basic and necessary trainings of life. So here on steemit, there are different families that exist and you can choose to belong in any of your chose as long as you can meet their terms and conditions. I will tell the new steemian that there are different communities with respect to what they are known for or what they do for example we have @steem-ghana @cryptoacademy @steemwomensclub and the rest. So you choose to belong to any them.
I will tell the new steemian that communities give you shelter on steemit. And you dont have to pay anymoney to be a part of any othem all you need to do is to type steemit.com/communities on your browser. When the communities show up, click the subscribe button as seen in the screen shot.
In oder to explain this term to the new steemian i would do it in simple term. I will tell the steemian to curate means to grade a post and vote it.
For example when a post is made and i need to curate it, there are things i look out for, like the quality of the post made by checking the length of post, is it plagiarism free?, does it add value to to others or to the platform? If all this things are intact i can now go ahead to click on the green arrow seen underneath the post made.As seen on the screenshot below.
I think one thing that will make a new steemian do well on the platform is mentorship. A good mentor will explain step by step all the terms or jargons used on the platform to him or her.
I hope i have been able to explain to the new steemian some key terms used on a daily basis.
