CONTEST : WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TRADITIONAL FESTIVAL?

I am happy to participate in this amazing contest organized by @steemit-ghana, honestly traditional festival is something that united Communities , states or even country, in this Contest i am going to tell you about oghu traditional festival, it not just a favorite but the favourite of Njaba LGA as a whole, i will explain the origin, how is been celebrate etc.

Oghu is a organ doctrine and it is been celebrated only in Igbo tribes, according to my late father, it started from Water, that is why it has a woman as the leader who does some of sacrifice before the celebration will start

those that will dance on oghu day are only boys that have been initiated, examine them and see that they are qualified for oghu dance as you see on the fourth pictureread more about oghu
So every year during the month of June every one knows that oghu is approaching, ones you see black pear coming out you that oghu is around the corner, you will see Men washing their masquerade garment, women that sell Ugba oghu, Ukwa oghu, Ogbarati will be buying more of it and store it so that they will have enough to sell during this festival, after the 3 months of oghu, just like it was declared open, the same way it will be declared gone, that particular day nobody will go out until is gone, it is best known to the elders.

One of the thing that makes it significant is that women do not go for the opening of oghu, women do not wear or follow the masquerade, it is a time that boys who are unable to get a particular girl will wear the masquerade and flog her very well if they see her on the road, it is only during oghu festival that you will see Ugba oghu, Ukwa oghu, Ogbarati, all this is traditional food prepared during oghu festival.

  This Communities do not play with oghu and everything that has to do with oghu festival, like the picture I used here, you will see, Igwe and Ndị Nze, that is the king and his kings men, all ready to declare it open in ụmụaka so that other communities will now go there own and celebrate it.

It is cherished so much among other festival because it is time for exchanging gifts, it is 3 months festival, from June to August every year, many people put their traditional marriage this period, in my village there is one they call Ebuleri, It is very tall and huge, when this one come out, many people will come out to watch it dance, they also do competition of dance, one village and another one, all this call for more celebration and happy moment to so many people, this and more makes it the most popular festival in my village Okwudor.

I want to say that all traditional festival has origin and those celebrating it knows why they are celebrating it, everything may not really be clear to everyone but one thing is that they are happy celebrating it.
