Érase una vez en un pueblo lejano donde había una hermosa playa al sur de la ciudad la cual escondía un tesoro muy preciado, por lo cual muchos hombres guerreros habían venido de otros pueblos lejanos a buscarlo pero no pudieron y habían fallecido en el intento.

Se decía que el tesoro tenía una guardiana la cual era una hermosa sirena y cuando la luna se encontraba a la mitad, la sirena cantaba cerca del tesoro, pero si alguien se atrevía a acercarse ella se convertía en un monstruo marino capaza de destrozar barcos y personas.

A esta hermosa playa llena de rocas los habitantes del lugar pocos se acercaban, pues los hombres eran seducidos por la hermosura de la sirena y eran llevados aguas adentro y no se volvían a ver.

Pero existía una particularidad los niños si podían bañarse en ellas y no les pasaba nada pues eran de almas puras e inocentes.

Un día la madre de Marcos un niño de 11 años de edad enfermo gravemente y ellos no tenían dinero su madre ayudaba a limpiar casas de las familias adineradas del pueblo, necesitaba unos remedios muy caros.

Marcos fue a la casa de las familias donde su mamá trabajaba para pedir dinero pero era poco lo que les daban apenas alcanzaba para comprar alimentos para su madre.

Marcos que sabía la historia del tesoro decidió emprender un viaje hacia la playa para rescatar el tesoro perdido, llego a la playa a las 5 de la tarde decidió entrar al agua, cuando entro la sirena se le acercó al ver que era un niño de alma pura lo dejo bañarse y se alejó, Marcos se asustó pero decidió quedarse allí, se bañó un rato y salió nuevamente a esperar que oscureciera, cuando cayó la noche y la luna salió él sabía que la sirena cantaría pues la luna se encontraba en cuarto creciente.

Y así sucedió la sirena comenzó a cantar cerca del tesoro el cual podía verse desde encima de una roca, pues brillaba tanto que se vía la sirena rodeando el tesoro, Marcos subió a la roca y pudo observar, en ese momento comenzó a orar y pedirle a Dios que le diera la fuerza para conseguir el tesoro para que su madre pudiera sanar. Bajo de la roca y comenzó a rodear la parte del agua donde se podía ver el tesoro, en lo que la sirena se enfureció e hizo una ola muy grande que baño a Marcos de pies a cabeza, se acercó a marcos y lo miro a los ojos con ojos llenos de fuego y le dio una señal con sus dedos que no entrará.

Marcos llevaba una pequeña cruz de madera la cual tenía en sus bolsillos, la saco y se la dio a la sirena estirando sus pequeñas manos temblorosa hacia ella, la cual la misma tomo y observo y pudo ver el sufrimiento que llevaba el niño en su corazón por su madre, Marcos comenzó a llorar y a implorar que lo dejara entrar ella se sumergió hasta llegar al tesoro, marcos podía verla por la luz que impregnaba el tesoro y cuando ella salía del agua una lagrima rodo por sus mejillas las sirenas también lloran pensó marcos, ella se le acercó y le dio muchas monedas de oro lo abrazo y le señalo que se fuera.

Marcos volvió a su pueblo y no solo ayudo a su madre quien pronto mejoro, sino que ayudo a muchos en su pueblo y fue conocido como el niño que hablo con la sirena.

Marcos carried a small wooden cross which he had in his pockets, took it out and gave it to the mermaid stretching her small trembling hands towards it, which she took and watched and could see the suffering the child carried in her heart for his mother, Marcos began to cry and begged her to let him in, she submerged herself until she reached the treasure, marcos could see her because of the light that impregnated the treasure and when she came out of the water a tear rolled down her cheeks the sirens also cried thought marcos, she approached him and gave him many gold coins, she hugged him and pointed him out to leave.

Mark returned to his village and not only helped his mother who soon got better, but he helped many in his village and was known as the child who spoke to the mermaid.
