Heliconia, better known as the banana plant, is one of the ornamental plants that we often encounter in the garden or yard of the house. The shape of heliconia resembles a banana tree with a trunk that has a small midrib. This one plant has flowers that have a unique shape and beautiful color.

Heliconia plants have many species scattered throughout the world. There are approximately 250 species. This ornamental plant is commonly found in Latin America, South Asia, and some Pacific islands in the Caribbean.

Flowers on this plant also have 2 sexes, namely white and stamens. Both sexes extend outward from the crown tube. While the base of the flower crown is tube-shaped with a length of about 3 to 4 cm yellow and the flower tent is red. The reproduction process of Heliconia plants is through the pollination of these flowers.

Plants that have this beautiful flower apart from being an ornamental plant also have other benefits as an absorbent of pollutants and reducing air pollution. Cools the air around the planting area.
